Qeastion about flying in

okay so I just went to cedar point for the first time this summer and it was amazing...

a friend of mine and I would like to go again next year but instead of doing the five hour drive, we felt like flying instead.

were in chicago so that means it would be about an hour and 15 minute flight but how long would it take to get to breakers hotel from the clevland airport? Would it even be worth the drive from the airport to the park? What would be the best way to get from airport to the hotel?

anyone?

thanks!

Cleveland is about an hour away. The best way I know is straight down 80-90 toll road (west) to about exit 118(?). Not sure if that's right. Not sure how to get from the A/P to the toll road-never been to Cleveland, but if you can find the Toll road (a.k.a. Turnpike), you will find CP. Same for Toledo, although their airport is not as big.

You're probably only saving about an hour going this way. Figure you need to be at the airport AT LEAST an hour before your flight, so that 1:15 flight is really 2:15. Then, once you are on the ground in Cleveland, you're looking at at least another :45 before you get from the plane to luggage. So that's 3 hours before you're getting in your rental car. Another hour to get from Cleveland to Sandusky and you're at 4 hours.

Not only that, you've spent a lot more than what the gas would have cost you.

The plus side is that you didn't have to drive for 5 hours, but 5 hours isn't really that long. That's a pretty short drive.

so I would need to get a rental car..okie dokie..no buses or shuttles or anything go to cedar point from there got it...

well hang on..do any hotels in clevland have any hotels that have shuttles that might take you to and from the park at specific times?

Or maybe we could take greyhound?

I know im being diffucultb here, and yeah, I would save a bunch of time and money by driving, but neither of us are big on highways...or five hour drives..

so any alternative that has worked for someone else before would be great.

we have over a year to save, and as long as we get the idea of what were doing we can get the money sooner or later, so im not worried about that

There is a bus that runs from Chicago to Toledo that has a limited number of fares for $1. Not sure what you'd do to get to CP from Toledo though. http://www.megabus.com/us/

There are greyhounds that run from Cleveland to Sandusky, but you'd be running on their schedule. Plane a little behind? You get to wait for the next bus. You'd also still have to get a cab from the greyhound station to Cedar Point.

And I doubt any hotels in Cleveland run CP shuttles (I won't say none because there may be some off the wall place that does, but not likely). Some of the Sandusky ones do though.

Five hour drives are long? What is a 20 hour drive then?

Anything less than a 6 hour drive away is not worth flying. I suggest fill your gas tank up and plug in the ipod.
