Pull Through

GAM man 68's avatar

sweet! just noticed they were on ther myself came here to check if anyone had said anything yet. You guys are on top of things though! On the subject of the tunnel being hard for the pull thru, I think it will be one of the hardest spots not because of all the steel supports in the way, but because of all the launch blocks they have to go through. To me I would think that would be the slowest part of the whole thing. I don't know though. i'v never done a pull-thru myself either

Did anybody see those 2 Cars get Pulled around on the Track all through the Ride Today or are they gonna wait till the end of the week or next week?

I didn't even see it move onto the lift and I've been watching it since 3 pm

1) Maverick 2) Millennium Force 3) Top Thrill Dragster

^These things take time. It is January and all, have you check your countdown clocks (I'm assuming you have one) 116 days is a hell of a long time to start testing so soon. Maverick is ahead of schedule.

Considering the thing is already built and practically ready to test, I'de say they're way ahead of schedule. Just look at PKI and X-Flight. It's not even there yet! (or is it...)

X-Flight opening at PKI on opening day is something I have to see to believe.

On topic though, testing takes a long time, espcially on a ride that has a launch. Maverick is unique because it has two LSM runs. One is slow and the other is fast, but their testing all has to be the same. No train will run its course until the LSM's are ready, they don't want a train to get stuck anywhere.

One set of LSMs are going to be a pain, and the other will be a major pain. :)

You need a train on LIMs/LSMs to test them. They might be careful to not allow the train to crest the lift hill untill they are ready for that. Obviously the motors should be able to kick the trains around if they are set up correctly.

The launch can be tested at reduced speeds untill it gets to the point where it might make it over the hill then full speed test must be used. They can actually test all of the motors at full acceleration during testing because it takes time to get the train up to speed. Just bump the trains slow untill they reach the motor set that is being tested and give it a kick.

There will be the point when trains need to be tested at full speed. If something fails and the train rolls back somewhere, oh well. Not a big deal. Have a couple guys pull the train back to the station or launch while the engineers fix the problem. Try again and good luck the second time.

^^^ & ^^ - first they have to ANNOUNCE that X-flight is actually going to PKI.

I can't believe this, clear some land, remove a ride at another park and suddenly it MUST be going to that park. I'm not sure, but I think Spock would say something like "That's not logical."

With all due respect, I think it's illogical to think it'd be going somewhere else.

But we all know the saying about opinions...

I can see where you could make a connection that the ride could be going to PKI (at least the clues point in that direction) but to think it'll be open at the start of the season is stretch that even Mr. Fantastic couldn't make. There's a reason construction on rides starts the day after parks close in the fall.

Oh I never thought for a second that it would open with the park this year.

It just says that PKI is getting something new for this year, not for opening day.

I'm not saying you thought so, but there seems to be this expectation amongst some of the posters that it will.

And, those who may be interested, the Navy's newest class of carriers (the Ford class) will be featuring a LIM catapult, replacing the steam catapults that have been in use for over 50 years. The first ship, USS Gerald R Ford, is expected to sail in 2015/16.

Yeah, but what good will it serve the navy? Every time it comes up against an enemy ship, it'll just issue a pardon. ;)

The pardons will be delivered by the carriers wing of fighter/bombers though, so no worries. ;)

Anyone else besides me worried about the clearance through the Stengel dive underneath the drop?

OK, so Screamscape has a poor picture of one car on the track ready for a pull-through!

Anyone have more info or better pics?

Very excited about Maverick and can't wait to see if it is the coaster I think it will be (one of the best at the Point, and possibly the best).

Just take a look at the webcam. There's a pretty clear picture of it there now.

Woohoo, first train's on the track right before the lift. Check it out on cam!

Well, at least 2/3 of the first train is on the track. :)
