I keep hearing things about housing, and right now i am really confused. This will be my first year and i will arrive on monday, and i am not sure what i should pick for housing. So can someone please give me the pros and cons of housing.
Thanks
Since i've never lived there before, I dont know 100%, but I've been stressing over where to live as well, so I've talked to ALOT of people about it...heres what i've come up with. (i'm assuming your a guy, I'd be kinda scared of bigtyme the woman)...
Cedars (on-point) -
pros = get to work in 5 minutes, next to employee cafeteria. cheapest
cons = old, nasty, dirty, gang-bang showers, power shower hour, naked foreigners (spelling?), bugs, NO ac, not close to the bars or really anything, besides work.
Bayside apts (these seemed to be the favorite for a while)
pros = "private" bathroom, kitchen, more space than cedars, living room, closer to bars
cons = 8 people, 1 toilet. no AC
Commons apts
pros = 2 bathrooms, kitchen, AC in the living room (NOT in the bedrooms though), big rooms, close to bars
cons = 15 roommates, no AC where you sleep
Commons dorms (recently has taken over as the favorite place to live)
pros = newest building, less nasty than the rest, AC!!! (maybe I should list that twice?) AC, close to bars, lockers
cons = no kitchen, community bathroom (but with private showers in it, so its not really bad) costs the most.
I think thats about all I can say on them. I've talked to alot of people and everyone seems to have a different opinion. If you want a kitchen, pick an apt. If you can't live without AC, pick commons dorms. If your moving here from a cardboard box, pick cedars (I supposed that it'd be better than a box, and I guess that $8 a week ya save would be nice too). And to let you know, I still have not picked where I want to live, its tough.

I have to agree about the roommates....I could handle living anywhere at Cedar Point, but i had 3 terrible roommates. One tried to kill herself and the other two were thieves (ok so they stole a really annoying talking clock but it wasn't mine to begin with....if had I would have been kissing the feet...but it wasn't mine)

Just to make some clarifications... I wouldn't apply the terms "nasty" and "dirty" to just Cedars. If you get roommates who are slobs, your apartment will be nasty and dirty real quick no matter where you live! ^_~ And I assume Cedars is cleaned before everyone moves in just like all the other housing... It's just a very old building and needs remodeling badly.-----------------

Although I am sure that the Cedars has its' share of devoted fans it was a rats nest in 1980! The bugs and other stuff were there then.
It does have alot of history and thats what photographs are for. I am not sure what the reasoning would be however for tearing down a still useful however nasty building. I just am thankful I never spent much time in that trash can.
