I am interested in knowing about how long processing-in takes.

It all depends on how many people are ahead of you in line when you show up. If you are coming very early, April or so, then it will not be so bad. But if you come around May, especially around the time the park is set to open, it will probably be packed unless you arrive very early in the morning.
Processing in at HR takes about 10-15 minutes (unless there is a long line). You fill out additional paperwork and get your picture taken for your ID. From there you go to wardrobe for your uniform which is maybe a 5-10 minute wait (again, unless there is a line). Then you go to your department office to get checked in. If you are new then I think they go over all the procedures with you. My first year I think I was in my department office for 30-45 minutes, if I remember correctly.
I came early/mid june last year, I had no waits ever... so yeah I guess it depends.

After your down processing in, what do you do? Are you allowed to play in the park or is there something else that goes on?

Well after you do everything through your department office you might wanna get housing(either commons or cedars/gold) and your parking sticker from the main toll booth.

I am pretty sure that you can spend some time in the park after you are done processing in. All of the times I processed in the park was not open yet, so I don't know for sure. But you'll have your ID so I don't see why not.
Yeah, after you get done processing in you'll need to get your housing assignment and move all of your stuff in. It's possible that your department may have some training later in the day or might even ask if you can work later that day. It's different for everyone.
There are 3 requirements to play in the park.
1) Be a valid and current employee. (Have processed in, and have not quit or been fired)
2) Not be schedualed for training or work.
3) Not be in uniform.
Processing in can take anywhere from a few hours to all day. It really depends on the day you process in. If there are hundreds of other employees processing in that day, the lines will be long. If you move in the day you process in then you will probably be unpacking among other things. You can process into housing with your contact the day before your process in date. It was the way I prefered to do it so you have more time to settle in before having to start work.
If it's your first time to the park, you might want to play just to get used to your surroundings.
I know that when the park isnt open yet and you work in Park-Op you get to do clean up and you can't go play in the park because it isnt open. Last year, I made friends quick and we had movie nights, went out to eat, went to B-Dubs, went to the movies. You'll find something to do.
As for processing in time, I got to HR at like 8:45 and I know that I was out of there and in housing by 11:45. There is a big long list of stuff you have to do but it usually doesn't take an exteme amount of time.

so can you come and get housing a day early, or do you have to do all that processing in crap first? I'm way dreading this.. I will be driving for 3 days, and I know I'm just going to want to sleep! sigh..

I think that you can process into housing up to 24 hours before your Process-In Date. Make sure that you have a copy of your contract with you to show the person at the Commons booth. I know that last year my then boyfriend was coming back and he came down on a Thursday night and he wasnt supposed to process in till Friday morning.
I suggest if you Process-In on May 2nd. that you do come a day early because I know that last year that was the most Process-In day and the lines were astonomical. Hope I could help!
