Problems

During my trip on the 29th, I noticed WT repeatedly got stuck before returning to the station. Any info?
My guess is that it was having maintinence problems. I have noticed it down quite a bit this season.

Let's go straight to the Merry-Go-Round!

i have heard that when it stops before it enters the station it is not safe and the air gates may not be closed or not all the way closed.

When I was there opening weekend it was doing something similar to this. It would launch go up the front tower and then either the LIMs weren't firing or weren't firing correctly. Rumor had it that there were electrical problems from a storm early in the season that caused a surge and was wreaking havoc with WT.
This may still be a gremlin that keeps popping its head back up.

That's a rumor for every ride every year. It's likely not true. It works or it doesn't. There are no electrical gremlins.

My brother and I were rideing it when that happend, I don't know why that happend but I would rather much be rideing it than waiting it line during a break-down...
I was in the station when it happened, someone had pushed on the air gates casuing the ride to stop. They had to switch to manual and reset ther ide. They then made the announcement about NOT touching the airgates. *** Edited 7/3/2004 3:02:11 AM UTC by MichiganWolverines***
So did a guest e-stop it? I assume that would get you thrown out of the park. I think I know how a guest could e-stop the ride, though I will not say how, as I am afraid people might try it.

Did a person actually e-stop it? I mean, that seems like a pretty crazy thing to do. Or did a ride op stop the ride because of a ride problem. I believe that was probably the case, but there are a ton of crazy people out there.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

A guest probably broke the light curtain causing the ride to e-stop automatically.
That makes more sense. Still, don't you have to pass the gates somehow, or somthing? Correct me if I'm wrong. Still seems like a pretty bold stunt.

Simply reaching across the gates could break the light curtain...
Well I'll try to explain and try not to assume too much since I really don't know. The ride took off and then stopped before it reached the first spike. The ride ops then had to call Jeff, I guees hes the team leader maybe? He came up from the ramp near where you enter the station from the queue line, and then crossed the track to the control booth.

He then made the announcement, "Guests waiting in the station, please do not lean on, push on, or touch the silver gates in front of you, it will cause the ride to e-stop just as it has now." Then they made announcements to eachother such as "Switching to manual" The train then rolled back into the station.

"Guests on Wicked Twister, in a moment the train will move forward slowly, then stop and slowly return." The train moved forward to where the last row was just outside the station, then it rolled back as if the ride was over. They then rechecked the restraints and went on with buisness as usual.

Alright, thanks for the clearification. Seems like a stupid thing to do, make the e-stop go off I mean. At least we know that people in the lines are safe from being hit by the train!

Wait, did they catch the people that did this? I'm sure they did, but did you actually see it Michigan Wolverines? Nice name by the way!

No, they wouldn't catch or remove the people that did it. People push on the gates all of the time; it just happens.
Here's a question. If someone broke the light curtain, or estopped the ride when it was on the backwards spike, would the train go all the way through the station and to the brake run, or would the LIMs fire in reverse to slow or stop the train? Just curious...

sean_s_eagle, no they didnt throw the people who did it out of line or out of the park or anything, I'm sure it does happen from time to time. To tell you the truth I didn't even know the ride stopped if you pushed the airgates, so I'm sure 90% of the public has no idea as well.
Okay, I see now, thanks for the info. I really want to work at CP, how old do you have to be to be an op for a ride, Wicked Twister persay?
