You missed all of this because the auto spiel was almost 2 minutes long and the ride interval is only like 30 seconds if that
But how many times have you heard it played while waiting in the station for your turn to ride? Unless the ride is a complete walk-on and your timing has you catching the same portion of the spiel repeatedly, you're going to hear it multiple times before you get in the train.
When Corkscrew ran 3 trains I don't think the full recording ever played out, because after the train rolled out and the next one rolled in it would start the spiel over from "Welcome back riders" and if memory serves me right the recording was so long and the interval between trains so short, you would almost never reach the end of it.
I actually liked the pre-recorded spiels. It's rare that I find a live spiel entertaining; I thought the pre-recorded ones had more "spirit" and "character" than the (frequently bored) employees, IMO...

How is this exciting after 17 seconds?

Last year my best experience with the safety spiel was with Dragster. There was one guy in particular who was really funny. But overall, last year I really didn't see any problems with the spiel. The ride employees all seemed pretty fun and energetic whenever I went. Hopefully this year will be the same.

Power Tower does have a pre-recorded spiel that blasts out into the queues and goes all day while it was plugged in, few other rides have them as well, however mainly the ride ops spiel

^^ I definitely see your point, but in a way, I kind of like the spiels at Soak City. I don't think they're "annoying", but rather too loud. Also, does anyone know who records CP's spiels? The same voice that is heard at Soak City can be heard on TTD as well as WT in The Roller Coasters of Cedar Point video.

Back in I think '04-'05, they put pre-recorded spiels on almost all of the coasters. There was major backlash over it, especially on rides like Magnum and Raptor. It was removed from most of the coasters, except for the ones which originally opened with one (MF, WT, TTD, etc.)
My belief was always that they did it partly so that they could include more safety instructions for legal purposes.
