We were there tonight. We were actually heading towards skyhawk to ride it. When we got there the paramedics and police were already there. Some people said that they saw it go up and come back down hard making a loud noise. Supposedly 4 people were injured. Its crazy and scary to think if we got there a little bit earlier we could have been on it.

I rode about an hour before it snapped! Quite crazy how unfortunate the ride has been recently.

Yeah we rode it earlier in the day. It is really scary that happened.

I was in line for it not too much before that happened. We left because the line was going too slow. Had we stayed, it could've been us on that ride when it happened. I heard the boom from Maverick.

I'd pray for those that are injured, not the ride. With all this trouble, I'm wondering if this ride is up on the chopping block.

I heard the "thunder" and was hoping the rides would not be shut down. Turns out it was worse than thunder.

I can't believe this is the 3rd incident at the park in the past week.

Was the cable disconnected, or was it just sagging. I'd believe there to be a bad seal/bad cable guide drum/piston seal/ect. than a fresh new cable to break that was just recently put in place.

Maverick00 the other 2 incidents weren't due to a ride malfunctioning. One was during maintenance and the man fell. The other was because of a rider on Gatekeeper had medical issues.

Any additional details on those two events?

Any word on Skyhawk yet? I'm going to the park in a few weeks and hoping it will be open as I want to ride it at least once this season!

I was there yesterday and it was still down. I said I'd never ride it again, but honestly if it was running I think I would have. lol. I love MaxAir, but I like Skyhawk better.

I was there yesterday today and it didn't look like they were doing much work on it.

That's the second or third cable they went through this year. They are probably trying to make damn sure that it won't happen again. There is most likely a problem in the mechanism that is causing the cables to break. They may have called the manufacturer to come out and look at it. The last one that broke made a pretty loud boom which I heard while waiting in line for Maverick.

Is Skyhawk still closed?

It was as of yesterday.

What don't you understand? The ride hasn't been fully fixed or hasn't gone through re-inspection yet. Therefore, the ride is closed.

The state will still have to inspect it for a third time this year I believe.

I'll be there August 20th, I sure hope it's fixed by then :( Any opinions on if it will be? Skyhawk is my favorite non-roller coaster!
