Possible track pieces sighted??

I have never posted before, but i just had to mention that I was by the park this morning. I saw a flatbed truck driving around the access road. It had a tarp over it, but I could see what looked like orange track pieces sticking out. Maybe this is for a kid's ride???
I'm not saying you were mistaken but this would be an awfully awkward time for CP to be receiving any kind of track. I don't think 2 months is enough time to construct much of anything. I guess, although it would be a stretch, that what you suggested about a kid's ride could be true.
Welcome, Chad! Thanks for the info...but i have to agree with Logan, this would seem to be "late" for startign construction on a ride...but it could be a kiddie coaster...or maybe some Light House Point stuff...

mikey :)
p.s. am VERY interested in what Jeff thinks about this... *** This post was edited by olympic10086 on 2/25/2001. ***
It could be anything. Considering the fact that I just got the newest press kit in the mail and it didn't mention anything I doubt that they are getting a new ride.

but wait, how long before they announced mf being built did the first track arrive??????

Not sure whoever, but someone told me that MF's tracks appeared Early in 1999, so who knows...could be something for 2002...

mikey :)
Yes, from what I remember MF's peices arrive very early.
As for the amount of time to build a ride, certainly there is no time to build a coaster for this season (duh) but smaller rides can be done very quickly. Chaos was installed in just about a month from the first ripping up of concrete to the first ride. Just the same, I like to have CP keep us guessing!

Definately, Crystal Kat! The anticipation and guessing is always part of the fun :)

We have got to dig something else up about this, think about it, Cedar Point could build during the season as a type of media hype for everyone who goes there this summer. Technically, depending on where they build, it would not be in the way of anything else, anotherwords, they would not have to close down anything. Or, it may be a kids ride. Look at Frog Hopper, maybe 3-4 days at most. Or, it could be for Light House Point. However, both LHP and Kiddie Ride seem somewhat unlikely. It is quite possible that it is some sort of a ride, MAYBE NOT a rollercoaster, but a ride all the same..."Filler rides for 2002...."
If you search in the news, Jeff has one of the first pictures of MF track. It was in the boneyard by Mean Streak.

search in the new for "all time" Then scroll down to July 5-8 1999.

It was first spotted by Dan.
I didn't spot it, I was told it was back there, I went and rode mean streak the next day and I reported what I saw that night. From what I have seen there is no construction going on in the park. Not counting regular offseason maintance and Lighthouse point.

Don't get your hopes up.

Maybe it's some replacement track for a few sections of Magnum. Sometimes when we glance at something what we thought was orange could have been red. Maybe replacement track for ID.

mf laps = 100! No More No Less!!
Oh, I wish it were coaster track, but it's probably just new pipes for plumbing...or something along those lines.
Maybe my wish is comming true....The track is for Mean Streak..they are going to tube it!!! LOL :)
Think 2002.......
Here is a good question to bring up. Now on the packing list for the MF trains it says 3.12.99 Now are the dates in Europe backwars from ours? I mean is 3.12.99 March 3, 1999 or December 3,1999. For example in the Spanish language they put the day before the month instead of the month before the day like we do here in the states.

If you are wondering I have a photo of a packing list. Jeff does too: http://www.guidetothepoint.com/thepoint/gallery/default.asp?section=mf

So if it is actually track (which it isn't) they wouldn't keep it on Point, they would keep it off point becasue theyreally don't have any place to hide it on-point.

I would guess that it's Dec. 3, 1999. Was that a fabrication date or shipping date?
