Possible Bad news on VertiGO.

WallyWorld, I don't think anyone here owns a helicopter and I don't think the tour planes run in the winter.
Well, if you can all wait until April 1st, I start work that day. I'll just go back and look.

Hey, those of us going to the Merry-Go-Round Museum this Sunday will be able to look across the lake and see if the towers are still there or not.... :)

Wheres the Electricity!

I hope they can get it up and running, but if not, I'm glad I rode it 8 times, have a video of the first time, and a T- shirt. Possible collector's items! Something to keep in mind is that most of the G.P. that went to the Point last year probably aren't even aware of it's existense, as it opened in Aug. and was only open for Bonus weekends, M.M. and Halloweekends in Sept. and October. So if they do take it down, most people will never know.
This is simply my opinion, but I think that they should take VertiGO down. The fact that it is an awesome ride to look at is fine and kudos to the people who had the guts to ride it ( God knows I would never have the guts) but think about what would have happened if that tower collapsed this past summer instead of in January. Maybe one of your family or friends would have been on it, or you would have been on it. There would have been major injuries if not worse. I know I'm stating the obvious, but (and like I said this is my own opinion) I don't think anyone's life is worth throwing away each time a person rides something like VertiGO. Maybe they can rebuild it and make it stronger and safer. Hopefully they can because I know how much people love that thing :)

As of Saturday March 2 the towers are still there. By the way... Jeff was right! Wicked Twister does look better in real life!

I'm NOT one of them...

Thanks Robodud! :) Now hopefully the people saying Vertigo is gone or in the process of being dismantled will be quiet for awhile. Like I said before, as soon as I get the chance to in my schedule I will be one of the first people in the season to ride Vertigo, because I feel it is a very safe ride.

I think, IMHO, that this was just a rare, uncommon, and infrequent thing, that I think was just a problem on this tower. I don't think this will happen again. Also, if it had fallen in the summer, thank God it didn't, but I think really, the same thing would be happening as right now, but Challenge Park would temporary close. As for hurting someone, I don't know. I think that they should fix it, maybe put thicker towers or something, then breakproof the others, and open it up again. I hope you guys understood that. ;)
Personally I think they will take out the ride. I loved the ride, but I don't think they even want to risk another collapse. And also how much would it cost to totally rebuild it the tower. I know pretty much everyone here would ride again but what about everyone thats out of state that just heard it fell, I doubt they would want to then do ride it.As much as I hate to say this I am not expecting Vertigo to be back this summer.

I'd like to see VertiGo back this summer. The thrill it offered was undescribeable. However, I wouldn't blame CP if they did get rid of it. From the people I've talked to that heard of the collapse, public opinion isn't too good.

Well hey I am from out of state, (yes, I rode it twice last year, once with the tape) but since the news I still would want to ride it if "they" rebuild it. But, like others have said up on here if CP feels necessary to close& tear it down then I will just have to cope and dill with it. Also atleast I had the chance to live in the moment from the top of it.

Dippin Dots aren't they Great!!!

I will be dissapointed if they take it down, but I'm glad I got to ride it while it was operating. I feel bad for all those who wanted to ride it and couldn't...if they take it down that is.

It's not down yet y'all...Whether CP decides to rebuild it or not, I'm confident in the fact that it will be safer for all. Hopefully they will rebuild because you all seem to be attached to that thing at the hip. :)

I’m very confident that this collapse would have never happened during the operating season. Maintenance checks would have caught the problem long before it got dangerous. I’ve never been on Vertigo, I hate being out in the open in high places, though sitting in any type of vehicle is no problem. But that’s the only reason I would hesitate to go on it, safety concerns would not be an issue with me at all. If the ride runs, it’ll be safe.
