posistions at cp

well as you guys all know I am planning on applying to cp for next summer. But I am baffled at what positions to apply for. If you could guys can give me some feedback at postions you have worked at in the past, that would be cool. The three positions I am thinking about going for are admissions, guest service, and merchandise.

If you like talking with the guests, go for guest services. You get to do the inpark surveys, and you get to meet and talk with such a wide variety of people. Also in guest services you get to help with park admissions. I have worked in rides, but i have to say that personally i perfer guest services. You get more freedom to get your work done, and you dont have someone constantly watching you. Plus the supervisor Nancy is the sweetest woman you will ever meet. *** Edited 11/29/2004 7:41:38 PM UTC by superscrewkristen***

I thought front desk at Camper Village made for a pretty fun summer. As long as you're the type of person who can handle complaints.

I had the oposite experience of superscrewkristen. I worked in Guest Service's in 2003 and was pretty miserable with my job. Doing survey's really sucks. I loved being at CP though, that's why I came back for 2004. Working in rides was the best ever! I met soooo many more people and had the best crew ever. In rides, I actually felt like I was doing meaningfull work for the park. You work more as a team when you are on a crew in rides. It's like being in a big family. In GS, I felt like I was always doing things on my own even though I had some cool people on my crew there too.

I also thought in GS service's that I would be working inside in the AC alot which I thought would be nice. I was totally wrong. I worked outside almost as much as I did in rides.

My recommendation would be go to rides.

Work in food service! You have alot of guest interaction. That is what makes your work fun.

Rides is a lot of fun...You get really close to everyone in your crew and it is a great experience. If you can though try to get a job in challenge park. It's a lot of fun.

Yea that is the one downside of GS. You dont have the same crew closeness as rides. BUT you make it as you want it. I wanted the closeness of the crew so we planned outtings. And since there was only 2 other girls I worked with we would hang out ALL The time. You make it what you want. But it does pretty much come down to, do you like talking to random people, having a variety of jobs, and working alone sometimes. Or are you more comfortable doing repative things with many people? It is based on your own prefernces. I personally rather get my work done with out being watched every second, and I garuntee you will meet people when you do those surveys that will make you smile! Plus the AC is sweet, and when you learn to close you could be in there more.

Since no one from merch has spoken up, I will say that the merch dept isn't as big as some of the others but we're a fun little group. You get the same kind of crew atmosphere like rides but without working on a ride. Jobs in merch are a lot easier to get than rides because EVERYONE wants to do rides.

Kristen!

I definitely agree with you. GS is awesome. Lots of fun, lots of freedom, and some of the best people at CP. You could work long hours or go home early if you got your work done. Great times. :)

Well if you want a nice tan and like swimming or being in or around water, then lifeguarding is a lot of fun. You don't get as many hours as some of the jobs in the park because soak city closes earlier and opens later, but u can also work the beach crew which gets a lot of hours. Its a rewarding job with great training.
