Pop-up ads on GTTP

Jeff's avatar
A couple of people have indicated that they've seen pop-up ads here on GTTP. In theory, if there are any, you shouldn't see more than two or three in any given session. Still, I don't like them either, so if you know who the advertisers are, post them here and I'll get them pulled out of rotation.

Thanks!

I got three in a row, but that was the only three I saw here this year.

I went back and clicked on one. Its was Consumerinfo which offers FREE FREE FREE credit checks.

2001 Magnum Laps-228
6/11/01 Gemini Laps 100

Was getting them a minute ago.  Looks like it's fixed now.  Can't recreate them, but they were all for CreditInfo.com, and everytime I went to either the CPPlace page or the General page.
The same three that Joe E. got were the same ones I kept getting over at Coasterbuzz.

got the you have one message waiting one accidently clicked on it when I went to close it. It offered me a free $115 spree from colonize.com
I've gotten all of the above.....and also when I click the back button, it says something about unable to resolve www.burstnet.net or something like that.
As long as we don't start getting those stupid "spy camera" ads that seem to be everywhere lately, I don't mind the ads at all...

I think both DoubleClick and Burst have decided against carrying those campaigns.

However, if you go to www.x10.com, click into the home page, then about (upper right), there's a link to opt-out of their ads. Give it a shot!

Here is the link that Jeff was talking about above.  Just click on it and it should remove you for 30 days.  Dunno after that.

There's this program called AdKiller where the ads pop up for a second, then the prgram closes them automatically. I use it all the time

Yes, but those kinds of programs also kill the legitimate use of floating windows, including several functions of these forums and other items like the track record on CoasterBuzz.
