Poll: New wood at CP?

A coaster similar to Lightning Racer would kick a$$ either over there or over in the Kiddie Kingdom/WT/DT area. Something that duels and/or races would be a lot easier to market than a standard medium size woodie I think.

i was networking during Iaapa, last saturday, the talk is were getting two coaster next year, they hinted a woonden coaster!
Gemini: I said "people" not "coaster tools". So many around these boards speak of people as if they are a separate entity that I thought it was understood that "enthusiasts" were different from "people".

IMHO, I think a woodie is not far off. With CF's relationship with Intamin, They are looking at them. Remember during the Q & A at CM, when they were talking about the latest advances in coasters, they mentioned Colossus at Heide park.

It is a great ride. With the new track manufacturing, I think the maintenance will be a lot less. If some track goes bad, they just pull out the bad section and drop in the replacement.

With 2 world class woodies in the CF family, I believe they are disappointed that they don't have one at the park that ends up with the best. I do like MS, but I hear a lot of negative comments from guests about it. They need something.

I've only been to MIA once, but I went on ST 5 to 6 times with a 15 min wait. And I have to agree it is an awsome ride. But in the future...there will be....(dun dun dun.)

THE PHANTOM!

222ft tall
80 some mph
60 degree angle of decent
Designed by ME! ~*kP

Watch out all other woddies....beware...the phantom will rise and defeat all who cross its path. *evil laugh*

My question would be where can CP put in a 235 foot tall Intamin hyperwoodie? SFMM is rumored to get a 225 foot one although I haven't heard any reliable sources yet. CP may not have a space problem for steelies since they requires less space than a woodie but I an concerned that a world largest woodie would not fit in CP! CP likes to go for records and the new Intamin rocket coaster looks like a record breaker to me and now I want my record breaking Intamin woodie for 2004 or 2005! If CP can fit one in I'd expect TONS of airtime since Dick Kinzel told me he LOVES airtime and Intamin is very good at putting it in their rides!
The fact about wooden coasters, especially larger wooden coasters is that they block visibility beyond them. So putting them in the middle of the park would seem like a bad idea. I would say that they could still use the "L" section by the Oceana midway, but that would block WT, DT, and the beach from the entrance and main midway. This is a main reason why I believe the only two true woodies on the peninsula are on the exterior of everything else. With this being said, if we were to get a giant woodie in the future, I would expect it to border the outside of the park so it wouldn't be able to take away from the visuals of the rest of the park.

I'm not certain that they would build an entirely new giant woodie because of this reason, but maybe Intamin and CP would be bold enough to do a major reprofile of MS and make it 70 feet taller with a brand new layout, or additional parts with some of the existing layout in tact. They could retrofit the existing track with their milled track. Then they could call it Fire Streak! :) **purely thinking out loud**

IMHO, I would like to see them use a steel structure(like Hoosier Hurricane) with wood track. That would be less structure needed and wouldn't block visibility completely. Plus the structure should need less maintenance than a wood structure would.

Put it on the beach running from close to Kinzel's house, run alongside DT dive low to the ground past WT & GW(not to block any view), turn between convention center and Hotel and wrap around Hotel parking lot close to Corkscrew, all the way to Magnum, then back.

Hey,I can dream,can't I?! :)

Records needed for a dueling/racing woodie:

BEN HUR RACER

Height: 180-200+ feet

Length: 5400-6000 feet per side

Angle of first drop: 72 degrees

Builder/designer: Intamin/Warner Stengel

Trains: Six 36 passenger trains (3 trains per side)

Features: Large twisting racing/dueling plug n play woodie similar in concept to Lightning Racer, Gwazi and Twisted Twins with at least 13 spots of airtime per side and a disoriented layout with 4 tunnels per side. No slow spots or dead hills or lame seats (in the middle). Good ride no matter where you sit! First drop is designed to give a floater even in the front seat!

Now this is just an idea of mine for their 17th coaster! And I think Ben Hur Racer would be the perfect name for this mammoth racing/duleing coaster! Tear down Mean Streak and put this in!!! Actually any racing woodie that has a drop over 150 feet would break the record for that type of coaster and 4800 feet or longer track woould do the same thing. But it MUST be an Intamin plug N play woodie in order for it to work otherwise its to big for a standard woodie! :-)
