POLL: New CP Restaurant

Dick Kinzel just called you.  It seems that Cedar Fair knows that they need another restaurant in the park, but just can't decide on what type.  He's asking you to help him.  The only restriction is that he hated the Blue Food idea.

What kind of restaurant do you put in?  Where?  What do they serve?  What is the theme?  Why would people go there?

Hi-end international food court.  Serving Indian, Thai, Japanese, among others...  People would eat there as a welcome change of pace from the usual park food (at least, I would ;) )

Something that serves a healthy alternative to the fried fat all the other food joints serve. Reasonably priced too but that's probably too much to ask for :)
Uh, millrace?   That's the Midway Market!

I'll incorporate this into the CP needs some sort of night life arguement.  How about a resteraunt on the outskirts of the park that is also accesible from outside the park (for after hours use) that has a bar and pool table and dart boards that folks can enjoy after the park closes.  Think about it....How many of us staying at the resorts would love to be able to drop into a bar right on the Point?  On the flip side, those not wishing to sit in traffic while leaving at the end of the night could hang around and have a couple tasty beverages (with the exception of the designated driver of course!) while they waited for traffic to thin out.

A Hi-end international food court is a very good idea. Cedar point is growing into a global-class park, both with employees and guests. It would be great if this could be reflected in honest attempts to vary the cuisine available.  It can be done, without having the effort degenerate into an caricature of the culture, as can so often happen.

As extensive as the offerings are at the park, they can be somewhat pedestrian, even though they have eclectic things like TGI Fridays in the stable.

What would be cool is if the international offerings were incorporated in to something like an open-air market, with different stalls offering foods, and possibly non-food items. You could grab a small serving of this or that at different stalls to make a fine meal.

I agree, a buffet with a large variety. I personally would love a Chinese buffet. I'm sick of fried food and pizza/spaghetti places.
Question:What the heck is 'Blue Food"?
A China Buffet. Or a mexican place serving those blue chips! :)
What about a bistro type restaurant? By the Lagoon, with seats out on a deck? Reubens and other fine foods? I'm not sure if any of the resort restaurants serve this, other than maybe fridays!. Chinese food does sound great though! Or a Fat fish Blue / house of blues style restaurant!

God loves all!

This is a really tough question to answer as Cedar Point covers many of the food groups already. But if I was to add a new restaurant, I would have to pick some sort of place that is similar to a Cracker Barrel or Bob Evans. A place that serves breakfast all day long, a place that has good old-fashioned country cooking (meatloaf, country fried steaks, ribeye steaks, catfish, pork chops, real mashed potatoes and buttermilk biscuits, etc.), and a relaxed atmosphere.

Also, in stealing a page from Disney and Six Flags' book, they could have "Breakfast With Snoopy", where the Peanuts gang would interact with guests and their children.

Just a thought.....

ProgRay

Stick a Tony Packos in there cuz I havent met one person who didnt like those Hungarian hot dogs Klinger loved so much
A bar at Cedar Point coaster lover? CP is a family place! How about a resturant that appeals well to kids, but WITHOUT blue food. Maybe just more "kiddie" dishes.

Dude, you've never been to Cedar Point, have you? You've got the Red Garter Saloon (there's a bar there) how about TGI Friday's at Hotel Breakers? It's called a 'Bar and Grill' That's definately got a bar! :)

Fridays is hardly the place to hang out at after the park closes.  Why?  It's closed.  And why all the push for these chain resteraunts?  How about something original?  You can get the best of both worlds serving food  AND having a bar with bar games (pool table, darts, etc...).  How great would it be to have something like the Red Garter Saloon located over by the beach and open after hours?  If you've walked around the resorts after the park has closed there are a ton of people walking around and hanging out.

Also: Silver Dollar, Bay Harbor Inn, Last Chance Saloon, Boathouse, Breakwater Cafe and Soak City - All with bars. And a few others like Dominics, Beaches and Cream Ice Cream Parlor (Hotel Breakers), Coffee Shop and probably some I'm missing, sell alcoholic beverages, though they don't actually have a bar to sit at. What’s un-family about having bars? It’s just another ride!  :)

Actually, I have been to CP many, many times. I made a mistake in my post. coaster lover seemed to be referring to a place that is nothing but a bar. I realize that other resturants have bars and serve alcohol, but they have a resturant "woven" into them. A place that is completely a bar without a resturant nearby seems like something CP wouldn't do. I am sorry about my carelessness in that mistake.

Off-topic question:  Do you take a designated dog-paddler with you to the Soak City Bar?

-'Playa

(who couldn't resist)

This is my idea for after hours activities at CP. They have a great beachfront resort, with all the things that go with it, except late night entertainment. Go with the  beach theme and build a Caribbean style beach bar. Play Buffett style party music, have both an indoor and outdoor dance floor. Put some torches out on the beach with tables. Sell Jerk Chicken and other foods like it. Have some fun contests. There is a great location for it either between Magnum's pretzel and the Sandcastle, or behind the Aquatic Stadium. Promote it to CP guests and the Sandusky community. Make it a FUN place so it can even be an alternative to a night at Put-In-Bay. That is the only thing that is missing from the complete CP vacation experience. To any CP "brass" that might be reading - if you like my idea and build it, buy me a free drink after it's open! :)
