Please Help!

I've always been fascinated by roller coasters. I could sit there watching one all day and never get bored. But for some reason, every time i go down a hill, my stomach hurts REALLY bad. Its a very painful feeling and i dont know why i feel that way. Just riding iron dragon or corkscrew hurts terribly. The biggest ride I've ever rode is blue streak and i couldn't take it and probably won't ever ride it again unless i find out why this happens and how to stop it. I'm not afraid of heights or hills or speed or jerkiness or anything like that, it's just that my stomach hurts so bad on the hills. PLEASE if anyone can help me then reply!

Uhhhhh... I think it is probably an intolerance to negative G's (airtime). However, I am no doctor. If it is really that painful, I would talk to a doctor.
Have you noticed that when you hurt yourself that your reaction seems to be greater than others might be? Your tolerance for some sensations may be less than they are for others.

I would say get checked out by your doctor.

I used to get a sick feeling in my stomach, a really bad feeling where I couldn't even ride little coasters. It was because of the big hills and g's, but now I've grown out of it, and I can ride anything they can throw at me. I can't really say much about a pain feeling in the tummy, I just got extremely sick. I feel sorry for ya, I'd see a doctor.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

Yeah but when i ride like blue streak or something with alot of airtime over the hills it doesn't hurt. It only hurts when i go down the first drop on every roller coaster i have rode on and all the other hills don't bother me at all.

I'm no doctor (is there a doctor on the boards? ;) ) but maybe you just have some sort of anxiety disorder. Are you scared while going up the lift hills? Maybe even it's something psychological. Do you have the same sensation on Wicked Twister, Dragster, or any other launched coaster/lift-hill-less coaster?

Once again, not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, but definitely go see a doctor if its truly bothersome.

i've sometimes thought it's something psychological. I dont know though. When im going up the lift hill, im usually terrified, only because i know it's gonna be painful. I've never rode TTD or wicked twister.

I only said that so I didn't sound like I was being mean or something. But I agree with you, It would suck.

I am trying to decide if it hurts or just feels weird to me. But, going to your doctor would be the best shot.

I was watching this show on thrill rides on cnbc and i forget but one part of your brain scences fear and the other adrenalin. Something like that but what do i know?
It might just be fear or anxiety seriously.
I remember when i was younger I was be so scared and i used to hold my breath when we went down the first hill and my stomach would hurt so bad. I thought i was like, dying. But I got over it the more I rode. If you feel like its really serious it can't hurt to ask a doc though.

That's exactly what i'm talking about. I always hold my breath when i go down cause it seems like it will help (don't know if it will or won't). How did you get over it? Last time i went i mostly rode iron dragon and it seemed like the more i rode it (i rode about 8 times), the less it would hurt. I want to take it to the next step of roller coasters (such as raptor), but i'm afraid it would hurt too bad. Do you ride all the big roller coasters and enjoy them now?

My uncle has the same exact problem. He went to the doctor's office and there was nothing wrong with him. Some people just get so worked up over big drops and hills, their body tricks them into thinking it hurts. Try to relax and enjoy the thrill. We finally got him in Top Thrill Dragster and he loved it...especially now that he isn't allowing his nerves to get the best of him. I'd see a doctor just in case, but 9 chances out of 10, it's your old nervous system playing tricks on you. Whatever it is, good luck! :)
I think it most likely is my nervous system, but if you've seen those rides that are at fairs that is almost like a zipper but it's a complete circle instead of a rectangle? i rode one of those one time and i figured it would be like a ferris wheel but flipping upside down and i was probly 4 times less as scared than on riding a roller coaster but it still hurt so i dunno.

As I said before I used to be not able to ride. I wasn't scared of the size of the ride or of getting hurt, I just felt sick. So when I first rode, I didn't think of the magnitude of the ride and just jumped on. The whole time going up the lift I was trying to be relaxed and just kicked my feet, on the raptor, to pass time. Still to this day heights don't bother me, helping my dad build houses and running around on skinny rafters helped! So, I'd say the next time you go on a average-sized coaster, try not thinking about the height or speed, just relax. Also try not looking straight down, look down at the train, or look straight out in front of you into the lake or other coasters, it won't look as high as looking directly down.

Or you could even try closing your eyes if that would help?
