Platinum Pass at other parks

I bought and processed my 2015 pass at the end of last season for Cedar Point, but my girlfriend is just now buying hers. My question is, will she be able to use whatever proof she gets from an online purchase to get into King's Island for opening day before processing her pass at CP? I am not sure if PP are park specific or if she could process at KI no problem. Thanks.

You can process at KI

actually, I'm pretty sure you have to process at your home park. I haven't seen hours for the processing building posted anywhere yet, but last year they were open starting April 23rd

I was pretty sure you could process it at any park. Regular passes can only be processed at your home park, but I'm almost sure you can process a platinum at any park. But to be sure, you should call or email the park and ask them.

Last I heard, you were supposed to process your pass at the park of purchase. However, some have been able to have passes processed at another park by converting to the visiting park's pass. The problem with that is that the other park is now the one you have to visit for things like a lost/stolen pass replacement.

Come to think of it, I think you can use that voucher. IIRC, it allows you to scan it once, so I think you can use it at KI, if you are only going for 1 day, then bring it up to CP to process it. Check the fine print on that voucher that was emailed to you.

I ended up sending the question to CP last night. i will post again when they answer. It would be really convenient to process at any park, but i could understand it not being that way.

A few seasons ago I purchased my platinum pass online from Point and processed at KI opening day with no issues.

Of course, if you havent already purchased your pass the easiest thing to do may be to just purchase the platinum pass from KI if you're concerned.

But I'm confident out of good customer service, they won't give you any hassle over processing the Platinum Pass.

I still can't believe this is a thing. It's a piece of plastic and a barcode which references a database record. It really shouldn't matter where you process your pass.

Perhaps, but that doesn't preclude people from using terms like "I was pretty sure" or "last I heard," which do little more than confuse the issue.

That said, it would be nice if CF were a little more open about the policy, as in don't just state what you can't do, but also explicitly state what you can do. "Platinum passes can be bought/processed at any park and used at any park." I'm guessing that the reason they don't is to keep park-specific bonuses alive. Like for example, the 2014 end-of-season fast lane plus perk at King's Island couldn't have been used at CP. Again, this could be stated clearly also. If you are ever in doubt, call up customer service.

I'm with WolfBobs, at the end of the day, unless you're actively trying to skirt the system or double dip benefits or something similar, customer service is going to work with you - assuming there's even a problem to work out.

I think it likely has to do with accounting. Each park is held to certain budget expectations, and the pass "credit" goes to where ever it is purchased. I suspect that's particularly crappy for Cedar Point when it comes to Columbus people, who may buy at Kings Island because they open first.

Just received a response from CP Admissions office. "The Cedar Fair Platinum passes can be redeemed at any Cedar Fair park to have the photo taken and receiving the actual card for the pass. For this you’d take your voucher to the Kings Island Season Pass Center and they can process it as long as the payments are up to date if on the payment plan. If you have further questions feel free to give us a call at Cedar Point Admissions 419.627.2309 ." Guess that solves it.

Jeff is right. I'm in Columbus and I bought my original platinum pass at CP. I processed in the spring at KI so my pass says Kings Island Platinum Pass. So be aware of that.

Last fall I renewed at CP but didn't process a new pass. So now I'm curious to know, even if the plastic didn't change, which park my season pass actually belongs to. I'd guess since I spent the money at CP I now belong to them. Not that it matters so much...

My platinum pass is a gray card that says Cedar Fair Platinum Pass. There's no park name on it. My sister however, has some weird card that says Cedar Point Platinum Pass and she hates that card. I keep telling her to trade it in.

Check the back of your Platinum Pass. The issuing park is on there.

Now I just noticed it.

Actually, your pass was always from Cedar Point. The park that gets the credit for the sale is the park that sold it to you, not the one that processed it.

For example, two seasons ago I purchased a Platinum Pass from Dorney Park. However, I processed at Kings Dominion. Halfway through the season, the bar code stopped scanning while I was visiting Kings Island. Kings Island said they could not replace the pass, so they looked up my pass both days I visited. However, the next day when I visited Cedar Point, they called up Dorney Park, voided my pass and issued me a new one. When I renewed my pass at the end of the season, I had to do it from Cedar Point's website.

I ordered and payed for my original pass on the CP website. I picked up my card at kings island and KI is listed as my "home park". I could not renew on the CP website and had to deal with KI. No real issues that couldn't be resolved, but a pain in the butt at times.

Cedar Point guest since 1974

So are there any "issues" with having a KI pass as opposed to a CP pass if it is platinum? I don't think it makes a huge difference besides renewing, but then again i don't know much.

Other than renewing and card replacement, it makes no difference from a guest standpoint which park a platinum pass is purchased from.
