Planning a trip in July for a week.

So for two years I have been begging my dad to go to cedar point and we finally have a trip planned starting July 13th, Saturday to Saturday. THis leaves 6 days available for roller coasters or whatever else. I fully believe I could go ride coasters every one of those days so a season pass would be worth it + the free parking and food discount and my family use another option.

What I would like to know is what days would be the best for going to CP, Are there any other Cedar Fair parks in the area I can go to with the season pass? Tips for how I should go about going on rides with so many days there. Anything else good for a first time visitor to Ohio and CP.

(We are driving from Connecticut)

Trust me, I know what it's like to have to beg parents to take you to an amusement park. Now on to the questions...

I would definitely get a season pass for the 6 days. You will save a lot of money opposed to paying for a ticket. But I don't know what kind of deals the hotel will have for a 6 da stay (assuming you're staying at a Cedar Point owned hotel). Its definitely something to check into. Just give the park a call and see what they can do for you. Its best to have it planned out. The regular season pass will get you free admission to the park, but I don't believe you have the perk of early entry (but you can have that perk if you're staying at a Cedar Point owned hotel). You also do not have the luxury of free admission to Soak City unfortnately. But like I said, the park probably has deals with a 6 days stay like a ride and slide package or something. If you get a Platinum Pass, you have all of the perks of early entry, free admission to the park and soak city, and discounted hotel deals. The Platinum pass is the only one that allows you to get into other Cedar Fair parks for free as well. I'm not sure what the price difference is on the 2 this year, but I assume it will pay for itself in those 6 days if you go to the park everyday. Kings Island is about 2.5-3 hours away from Cedar Point too if you plan on making the drive there

In July, you will see heavy crowds, but it is not unlikely that you won't be able to get everything in except for Fridays and Saturdays especially. You will definitely be able to get everything in those 6 days. I live 2 hours from the park and there are many times we will take 1 day trips up to the park and be able to get everything in. It is 100% doable.

As far as eating goes, my favorite place is Famous Daves. It is located on the Marina and worth every penny. If you like Barbecue food, you don't wanna miss out on this place. I recommend you look it up. Off Cedar Point property you will find tons of eating places. The thirsty Pony (which is a restaurant, bowling alley, hotel, and little waterpark in one). This place is worth every penny too. Chet and Matts pizza is my favorite pizza and the owners are so friendly.

If you want to, you can also explore Sandusky by going to Battery Park. Its about a couple miles from Cedar Point, but you get a beautiful view of CP from there. I believe they also have a Damons restaurant there too that overlooks the water with a great view of Cedar Point too. I'm not sure if it is still a Damons or its new ownership, but that's what it was in 2011 (the last time I ate there).

I hope this helps and ask any questions. Everybody here would be more than glad to answer them I'm sure.

A Cedar Point season pass will only be good for Cedar Point and does NOT include Soak City or free parking. A Cedar Fair platinum pass includes everything,Cedar Point-Soak City-free parking and the free admissions to any Cedar Fair amusement park & water park.

Kings Island, for me from Cleveland,is 4 hours. Dorney is on the path from Connecticut to Sandusky.

Buy on-line platinum pass vouchers, process when you get to Cedar Point,do Kings Island some time during your stay, leave a day early and do Dorney on the way home. ALL parks and parking FREE.

number of times to Cedar Point:50s/60s/70s/80s-3,1995-1,1996-27,1997-18,1998-13,1999-20,2000-16,2001-8,2002-7,2003-18,2004-14,2005-18,2006-28,2007-16,2008-17,2009-28,2010-26,2011-27,2012-21,2013-18,2014-24,2015-29,2016-46,2017-13,2018-14,2019-10,2020-0,2021-3 Running Total-483 72,000 miles traveled for the point.

If it is a 6 full days in Sandusky I recommend also visiting the islands Kelley's Island, Perry's, etc. We always try to hit Kelleys as it is a nice contrast to the high voltage aspect of Cedar Point (only time we didn't was when we went to the last day of '12 and it was cold and windy). Weather varies, especially being right on lake Erie so it can be either really nice or a scorcher.

We have so many things to do in our area. Visit www.shoresandislands.com. They list everything there is to do. If you have six days, I would definitely buy the combo pass. In July it gets pretty hot here and this way you can enjoy the water rides in both parks. We have combo season passes and this get you in an hour early. You don’t have to stay at the CP hotels to get this. We normally can ride all of the major rides in an hour by doing this. You have to run so bring some good running shoes. You can save some money by staying off resort. You then can park near Soak City so you can enjoy the park and water park. I would say Monday and Tuesday are good days to visit the park all day. We no longer have a Damon it’s called Pier 684. They have some great Lobster Bisque. I live here so e-mail any other concerns you have. jayme@ghostlymanor.com.

So we are not going to be going to any other parks due to a 10 hour drive up (eliminates Dorney Park) and a 3 hour drive to Kings Island in which it would likely only be me actually going in. Good news is that I will be getting a platinum pass and there is a night ride on Dragster one of the days I will be there.

My new question is do you guy have any little tips and tricks about the park such as go on this ride at this time, do this, don't do this.

Are you going to purchase Fast Lane for any of the days you are going to be there, since its such a long drive? Kind of like a treat for one day at least? I will never get it at CP because i have been on everything a million times (minus GK of course :)). Plus, we visit quite often. But i would get it at Kings Island or any other park i dont frequent because of the drive.

My new plan will probably be GK, MF, Maverick, Dragster for early entry. Im just going to watch this forum and see what everyone is saying about the "new flow" for people with GK in the mix now.

Beach entrance by Windseeker to get to GK first thing. Get to the gate early because it is a small gate with not that many people working it/ticket scanners, plus they usually let you in the gate 15 minutes early, up to a roped off area to help the flow through the gate.

Are you staying at a CP Hotel?
