I am surprised that this topic is not closed yet. Although I am glad to see the pic. It is the first news about the park in awhile. And this off season is starting to get to me.
Peace, Mikey
Not to bash concerts or anything, but what is it with you and summer concerts at CP? A concert at an amusement park can get ugly. That's all i'm going to say. Based on what I heard, KI used to host this teen dance thing in the action zone. People have told me that it became ugly. And it didn't last long in the season. CP has that Halloween concert with the midway monsters under the big screen, but that's family oriented and children can dance in it.
They should make the stadium a new updated show, or tear the whole thing down for other use.

While I do agree that it should be replaced before the playground, but I wouldn't say it's "rotting". It still looks good.Yeah, I think the boarded up look is sweet. Maybe they can make a theme out of it. ;)
It's not boarded up at all, it has what look like hurricane shutter covering over the windows.

Hurricane Shutters.

The ones in the pic look just like the ones on Aquatic Stadium.
Just goes to show that you can sell anyone anything for more than it should cost.

Re: Concerts
We talked about concerts on TPOL last year when someone brought it up. Ultimately it's probably not a good idea for the reasons stated above in this thread.
King Dapper Combo is the name of the band that plays two half-hour shows at 8:30 & 9:30pm on Fri & Sat during HalloWeekends:

Since it's part of HalloWeekends in one walk-way transitional area from one Midway to the next with a lot of space in front of it while the big screen plays old horror movies or ball games (with the sound underneath the projection booth only) and a lot of other Halloween related events and shows are going on it works fine and doesn't get out of hand with people of all ages and the MM handlers in the audience. It helps you can stop for as long as you like and there's no seating.
It's billed more as a half-hour "show" than a concert per se. Zombo (who is also DJ Zombo in the Arcade) keeps the proceedings light-hearted and fun for all ages. The Midway Monsters are college sorority girls, sports teams and a few high school kids. Teens do get rough with them once in a while. I think a lot of times some of the audience knows the kids in the costumes. Weather will shut the show down if it's too windy because the door flap on top of the trailer could go.

I have seen a group of rowdy teens in RGS during Monsters Rock! a couple times. There used to be a Police officer inside the RGS. I didn't see one too many times this year. Frank Thompson diffused one group by performing in front of them and then they realized all eyes weren't on them.
Re: Outdoor Venue
KI used their International Theater for a more adult-oriented Halloween song & dance show "Dead Awakening". Lucky for them the weather was good. The seating isn't much larger than AS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgix3ms2MF0
Re: "Planet Snoopy"
I like that code name from whomever made it up. Reminds me of "Blue Harvest" for ESB just more straightforward. (Let's see who the Star Wars fans are :).

What exactly are you guys referring to when you say "storm shutters"?
What I see looks like metal siding used on storage buildings and warehouses.

Okay. how about we stay on topic people?
Anyways, I like the name Planet Snoopy, but it kind of sounds like Planet Hollywood? They need to think of something more original like Snoopy's Paradise or something like that. (haha don't judge! Monster + Vault = HYPERRRRx999)
The whole concert think I don't think would work out on a regular basis. It's just like going to one of Cedar Point's many shows; some people show up, but leave during it. You can't expect a big crowd (maybe besides opening day if even) to come to the concert. And what music artist would come? We need some Aerosmith up in here!
Does anyone think Camp Snoopy/Planet Snoopy are very similar names?
I can't tell you how many times I get stopped on the midway or asked, "Where's Snoopyland or some other off-the-wall name that has something to do with Snoopy." Point is, both areas need very different names for parents and kids don't mix them up.

Yes Kings Island had concerts back in the day. I was there for one of them. I dont know why but it was Aly and AJ. I guess it was before they became Disney's property. I dont think it would work out for CP.
Let's Get Weird.
Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster have very different names. But, how often were you asked where Millennium Dragster or Top Thrill Force was? People get names screwed up all the time.
I say name them Kid's Play Area #2 and Kid's Play Area #3. They already have Kid's Play Area #1 up by Swinging Pendulum #1.
:)
I really hope they don't discontinue Spirit Song at the Paramount Parks, as those are multi-day concerts that really do increase business. It wasn't unusual for Cedarville University to have several dorms filled with groups down there for that concert series. Timberwolf is a great venue if you ask me, and hope its use is continued.
Now, as for "Planet Snoopy," that's an interesting code name. I honestly don't care what they're doing over as long as it a) doesn't stick out like a sore thumb wrapped in neon pink band-aids and b) end up looking like another version of Kiddy Kingdom. Actually, I wouldn't be sad at all if Kiddy Kingdom goes (though I'm not sure how valuable or historic that carousel is, as I can't remember the manufacturer/carver) if this new kids area looks like it will do well.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

I don’t think I would care to much if parents or kids got the names mixed up, but would still want completely different names so it sounds as if some thought was put into it. And because I don’t see why it has to be 100% Snoopy all the time. Why not call it “Charlie Brown Town”?
Personally, I'm just hoping they have a little stall where you can go and see Lucy and get some psychiatric help for 5 cents. :)

Don't you mean ROTJ ;)
I like the "Planet Snoopy" name alot. But I see how it could confuse some people with Camp Snoopy in the park as a different area though. People yelling at each other, "I've been in Camp Snoopy for an hour now waiting for you guys". "I said PLANET Snoopy you moron!" Etc, etc, you get the point.
