Plain Dealer: Park dismantling coaster for move

One of the trains is now used for parts, and thus why, in recent times, you only saw 2 operate.

At least two years ago the train was sitting in an area right next to Grizzly Run. If you looked through the adjacent fence you could see it pretty well.

Thrills Around the Corner!

Yes, I'm disappointed in the Removal of X flight, but I'm more disappointed in the removal of the Monorail. I remember as a kid growing up, always riding this with my family. This is going back to the original Geauga Lake before Six Flags ever made a disaster of the place. I'll admit the monorail was lame, but it was a good way to chill out for a bit during the day at GL. Taking the Monorail out of GL would be like taking the Train out at CP. It will be intersting to see what GL has planed for all these vacant areas of the park now for the future.

The one thing I don't understand, is why would it move to KI? Now, I'm the first to say that KI's coaster selection needs a bit of help, but I really just don't think X-Flight is going here. The Paramount aqcuisition just took place a few months ago. Moving a major roller coaster doesn't just happen over night. They wouldn't remove it just to have it sit dormat for years while they figure out where it will go in the park, and draw up plans and such. Its not like there is an urgent need to get rid of it. Having it sit for a while will cause maitnence costs to build up just as if they keep it running now.

I'm no builder, but I don't see how, with all CF has going on, they decided to move X-Flight to KI, get the permits and plans to remove it from GL, get the permits and plans to build it at KI, in just a few months. Thats some major work which would take at least a few years. I'd say this is destined for another CF park, not including the Paramount ones. Knott's is out- they don't have the space and the capacity issue would be a disaster. CP is out of the question. They don't have the space nor do they need X-Flight. They also don't need two coasters in a year. Worlds of Fun seems unlikely as their attendance isn't much higher than GL's and they just added Patriot. Valleyfair is getting Renegade so they are out. Dorney? Possible but they just recently got Hydra. I'd say MiA is the best choice. They don't have many coasters, and one might be the key to raising attendance.

Even with the logistic problems, does KI really need X-Flight? The coaster selection might not be perfect for enthusiasts, but for the GP its definately above average. And for the enthusiasts, it seems like if they really didn't like KI's coaster selection they would just buy a Maxx pass and drive to CP or GL a few times.

They didn't just up and decide to move it... There is more of a reason than that that it's leaving the park.

The third train was never in any type of incident. And yes, they ran both sides more this past season than they have in the past (thanks to our maint. guys). X-Flight is one of the most visited stops by many guest, mainly to ride it to check it out since it's different.

I thought Cedar Fair said they were honoring and going ahead with the 2007 plans that were already in place for the Paramount Parks prior to the acquisition. If this is the case, then X-Flight will go to one of the original CF parks. My feeling is that it will go to Michigan's Adventure. (I hope)

No No No!

They're honoring the capital expenses for 2007.

The monetary amount, not the actual attractions.

It did 2.7 million in 2001- and that was a transition year.

Maybe in the incorrect AB guess, or the dreams of some Six Flags exec. And it went nowhere but down from there, well under 2 million in their last year.

Ireally don't like the idea of this ride going to PKI. Kings Island needs a new steel coaster but someting new and unique or a long awaited B&M. But all signs are is that is where the ride is going?

I just hope they leave Dominator alone. I love that ride.

I am guseeing that Steel Venom is safe for now. It is fun and not just like Wicked Twister. If any other coaster is removed I hope for Headspin. I ride it but wouldn't miss it if they removed it

Well, if you look at that whole half of the park, Hyde was removed last year, there's the old waterpark area that's sitting there doing nothing, the monorail's going, the paddlewheel boats are gone, and now X-Flight is being relocated. To add to that, Steel Venom was down for a good portion of last season, and there were rumors earlier in the summer of Head Spin possibly being relocated within the park in the next year or two. If they were to move it up to the front where X-Flight was, that creates a lot of room. Simply put, that whole right side of the park except for Big Dipper is due for some major renovations. It's too late for anything major to happen for '07, but I have a feeling a lot of changes on the ride side will happen in '08. Not necessarily a coaster, but a major overhaul in all respects.

BING!, BING!, BING1,

The Chief won the BIG STUFFED SNAKE!

Months ago, that was the word http://www.pointbuzz.com/cpplace.aspx?mode=info&PeopleID=12707& now we see the beginNings. Pray it ain't a full fledge outing down the road.

Damn, and I never had a chance to ride it. (kids to young & chicken).

I'll make sure I get a ride on every big coaster in the park next season, even if I have to go by myself.

I hope they do move it to Kings Island. It won't attract anymore vistors at Kings Dominion, due to the same prototype at Six Flags America.

There would be alot of people who frequent KI that X-Flight would seem new to them. Chances are they never traveled to GL.

I didn't like X anyway, made my knees feel weird (like I was going to fall out) and sometimes made me feel like I was going to hurl.

My hubby on the other hand LOVED it. So, if it ends up at KI, he will be thrilled and I will again be dodging it!

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?

Any news/ pictures of the deconstruction yet?

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

The real deconstruction isn't suppose to start until this week.

Funny. I thought we've been deconstructing this move all week. ;)

There was one deconstruction photo on GLT before the move was started.

Here's something delicious to chew on: heavy machinery has been sited at Michigan's Adventure, between Wolverine Wildcat (no, I didn't see this with my own eyes, but the person who did is going to try to get pictures).

So is the area where X-Flight was just going to be empty next season? Also, how could they put something in place of the Monorail???
