Places to stay

raptorqueen,

Have you stayed in the cabins, and are they air conditioned? My husband seems to think in August that might be important. :)

There aren't air conditioning units in the cabins but she does have fans.

The motel rooms themselves have a air conditioner (plus she has a pool that is 9 ft deep at one end!).

I would call her as soon as you can for reservations, she does fill up fast.

geez Ben, how'd you know??? LOL

If I can suggest a great place to help fellow pointbuzzers out, I will.

OH wait, I recommened Joan to you last year and you stayed there!

Maples was recommended to me in 2000, and I have been a frequent guest since.

Joan at Maples has my vote EVERY overnight trip.

I stayed at the microtel last year during halloweekends and found it very clean and convenient to the 'back way' into the point. I think I paid around $90 for a suite. I can't claim that rate is still available but I would stay there again.

I just stayed at Maples this past weekend (Thursday night through Saturday night) and had an awesome stay. Hung out by her pool Friday (pool was 74 degrees) and slept great. There were other coaster enthusiasts there who also stay with Joan every time. The housekeeping staff was also very friendly (first time I had ever had contact with them!).

Hi there.
Occasional visitor.
The Trabant and Schwabinchen did indeed have one major difference besides the tilted table.
The cars on the Schwabinchen face clockwise, the Trabant, counterclockwise. Google search both for photos. Although the mechanical action is the same, the sensation is a little different. I liked the Trabant's action better. No doubt, the backdrop and decoration of Schwabinchen was superior! CPs Schwabinchen was sold and then sold again to a park in Mexico, and has not resurfaced as far as I can find.

Likewise, the Tiki Twirl and the Calypso may have had a different action of some kind. I believe both main turntables turn clockwise, but one ride may have had the cars turning one way, one the other. They may have simply been identical with different decoration.
