Phone Interviews..and Emails....

When applying to CP I put my first choice for employment as a ride host, and second as admissions. Today I recieved an email from Challenge Park offering me a position. Is this a random thing or does this mean that they probably dont have openings in the main park...I called and asked the manager of challenge park if there were openings and he fowarded me to Chris, the ride guy...has anyone else ever been contacted by Challenge Park but still found a position in the main park?

They are probably trying to fill ride positions in Challenge park now. That's my guess

Most likely they offered you a position in Challange Park because there are still more openings there...I don't know if that means there are no positions left inside the park or not. But usually they try to give you your first choice, maybe they consider Challange Park as a ride? (Well, the Go-Karts and Rip-Cord and stuff are rides.) You could continue to persue a spot inside the park, but if you are not able to get one, I'd suggest working Challange Park (or whatever is offered to you). You never know, you could end up loving the job, and once you are there, you might have a chance to switch over to a ride inside the park, since a lot of people come and go during the season.

Yeah...one funny note is that the employment letter still states Vertigo as one of the possible rides

If only we knew that was the truth and Vertigo would be a possiblity. And chance of saving that...it might (might emphasized) be worth more in the future (either monetary or to yourself) since it's Vertigo memorabilia. Just a quick thought!

I don't want you to think I want CP to copy off of PKI, but I think it would be cool if they also auctioned off the first rides of Wicked Twister to help a local charity. I know I would pay to get that front row (or back) on opening day. Kudos to PKI for knowing how to make money for local charities, raise the public perception about them and start something new all in one. But I still love CP!

Cedar Point actually did do a "first ride auction" for Millenium Force...I believe the benefits went to the American Red Cross...but it would be cool to do the same for WT...but i doubt it will happen...

Yeah, I remember that. He and his sister both got canned and she was Zone 3 Sup. in the begining of '00. I guess are we keeping the name quiet? I know who it is but I'm not sure if we should use the name without them hear to defend themselves. What do you think, Nate?

Bryan - it wasn't him who sold it. It was someone else. Someone who didn't even work there in '00, but previous to that was a lifer. I'm not mentioning names either. The whole story is still unclear but I've heard all of their sides of it. I doubt they want it talked about here though.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is a thread that should probably be cut off now before people's privacy is invaded. Going WAY back to the original subject, CoastFreak, if you were called about a job in challenge park then the challenge park manager possible has a hold on your application, meaning no other departments or managers can hire you until they take you off hold. So if you're dead-set on working a ride inside the park then I'd suggest calling the challenge park hiring manager and asking him if he does have a hold on your ap, and you can ask him to lift it for you. That or call park op. and talk to an area 1 or 2 manager about getting on a ride inside the park and they can check on your ap status for you.

I agree with jon--no one likes being talked about behind thier back, especially something of that nature, remember, we all make mistakes.

ParkOp...i did mention to the Challenge Park Manager when I called him that I would like a position on a ride inside the park, and he simply fowarded my call to Chris Fike in Rides....will that not be enough...i would think that if i told him i wanted a position in "in-park Rides" he would lift my app

I'd say that would take care of it, as long as the challenge park manager knows you don't wanna work in there he should have lifted the hold. If Fike wants to hire you he'll take care of it.
