People are stupid

Agreed. They should've kicked the person out of the park. Or atleast kicked him in the head. o.o

Although not related to MF, I saw some very stupid kids a few weeks ago on Mine Ride. First of all, as the train was being dispacted, two kids who looked to be around 9 or 10 decided they didn't want to ride. They squirmed out of the restraints and jumped out as the train was leaving the station. The train was immediately stopped when the operators noticed what was happening, but the kids bolted down the ramp before anyone could grab them.

As if the ride ops didn't look like they were going to have a heart attack after that stunt, it seems those kids had some friends who were waiting for the next train out. When the gates opened, the next set of kids bolted for the exit, except instead of going through the train, they went in between the cars, stepping on the track and everthing else that is in that space between the cars. Makes you wonder where the parents of such stupid childern were. The ride ops seemed pretty freaked out after these two occurances.

Who the Millennium Force ride ops made a special announcement for when he took his 100th ride on 8/12/03.

I didnt know it was even possible to unbuckle your seatbelt on a ride. I know on some rides one you exit the station it's impossible to unbuckle your seatbelt. I'm really surprised.
Not only stupid children, but stupid parents. It's just not right to leave your children alone at an amusement park when they are that young.

Ok, this doesnt have anything to do with MF but it does have to do with seatbelts, is it ok to unbuckle your seatbelt while you are waiting on the brake run, or entering the station? I do it often, I don't really see danger in it, and it helps me get out of the ride faster. what do you guys think?

And whats with the "DO NOT STAND UP" signs? how can you stand up if the ride ops make sure you were seated and the bar was tight?

It's perfectly fine to unbuckle your seatbelt as you enter the station. As you say, it makes unloading more efficient.

Believe me if a guest is determined to stand they always find a way to do it no matter how hard "we" the operators push the lap bar down.

The "DO NOT STAND UP" signs should have a little disclaimer at the bottom that says they aren't responsible for injuries or death as a result of rider error and/or stupidity.

Even if they don't and the rider stands up, his or her family couldn't take any legal action against the park. There are signs and warnings everywhere that say not to stand up, hold on, keep your hands and feet in the car at all tines. Though, most people (such as myself) put their hands up during the ride.

Gotchas.... Now why would someone want to stand up, if I was ever on a coaster and saw a dude trying to stand up, i'd yell at him "GO RIDE MANTIS!" :)

If you yelled that at me, I'd flip you off. ;) Not really. *shrugs* I'm not much of a fan of stand up roller coasters (still good, though). Therefore, I don't see a reason to stand up. :D

I agree with the taking your belt off as you enter the station. Especially since I do it myself and have taught my kids to do that as well for efficiency
I take the belt off on just about every roller coaster before stopping. Power Tower, Mean Streak, Mantis, Raptor, Millenium Force, and others. It saves time for unloading. But taking it off anywhere else is just plain stupid.

Amusement parks attract all kinds of people. Unfortunatly this includes stupid people. I just saw the same thing at IOA on DD a couple weeks ago where they had to stop the train when someone unbuckled their seat belt.

All this talk about stupid people reminds me about when I was on Mantis about a month ago:

About one second after the train was dispatched I heard a ride-op yell, "SIR!, Do not touch your seat belt!" The idiot in the row behind me had unbuckled his seat belt. So then a ride-op runs over and buckles his seat belt. The train is about to start moving again when all of a sudden one of the ride-ops screamed "SIR!, There is NO smoking on the ride!" To everyone's surprise, the same guy who had just been messing with his seat belt had pulled out a smoke and a lighter and actually lit it when he was ON Mantis! As I exchanged a confused look with another ride-op, another ride-op had him put out the cigarette. That stupid guy not only made the station smell bad, but slowed down the operation of Mantis. There are some really stupid people on this planet.

"Life is like a roller coaster; enjoy it."

I guess he figured " No Smoking in line" meant as soon as he got on the ride he can light one up! ;) people are dumb

Speaking from experience, it absolutely scares the crap out of me when people walk across the track and not the cars. Despite popular belief, hosts do not want to see people get hurt on their ride. It's legitimate to say that some guests don't know better, and we have patience for these guests. It's when we get the 30-40 year old guests who sit on top of their restraints that we get frustrated......

To answer the question about unbuckling your seat belt, on roller coasters it's not "officially" safe to do, however you will never get a host that would yell at you for doing so. However, on flats and circulars always keep your seat belt buckled. That annoys ride hosts, and scares hosts in Camp Snoopy when a child does so.
