Payroll Deduction

I was wondering about payroll deductions. I was told that if you need something as far as uniforms go ("smurf suits", rain gear, belt, etc.) and you didn't have the cash, you could just have them take it from your paycheck. I'm sure that some of this could add up pretty quickly. Plus, you'd have your first week rent to pay. Obviously, the first week's check won't be very big since it's just training, so what if they need to deduct more than your check is? Do they just split it up and take it out of two checks? Or is there a set amount they take in a given week? (For example: My mom works at the hospital and they can payroll deduct at the gift shop, up to $300... but they only take up to $50 a week out of paychecks.) Just wondering how this works at the Point.
i have that same question... are our pay checks gonna be really tiny? i mean money wise due to all these deductions?

Well it depends on how much you plan on buying from Wardrobe. You really only need a blue suit, rain suite, and maybe a belt if your in rides. You might have to buy more then one rain suit if your like me and lose one;) But im sure they would take it out of more then one check if your amount is more then your paycheck for that week.

The Housing deduction is the least of your worries (about $30 at the most!), and the things at Wardrobe aren't that expensive. The first week or two your checks may have a lot of deductions, but after that, unless you keep losing your things and having to buy replacements, you won't have to worry about it. (Plus, everything you buy, you get to keep, so if you keep your things nice you can use them again if you come back in 2004!)

If your job involves working outside, I suggest getting yourself a sweatshirt, too, if you'll be coming in April and May. The blue jackets are warm, but a sweatshirt will really help on the cold, windy and rainy days.

What do the 'ride-op' belts look like? Are they just regular, or anything fashionable? (I already have a brown belt for my Guest Services uniform, but I am just wondering!)

Rachel: Hi Pheebs.
Phoebe: Hi!
Rachel: Hi! I just want to apologize. I’m really sorry I was a baby.
Phoebe: That’s ridiculous Rachel, we were all babies once. . .Oh, you mean today!
Rachel: Yeah.

Still wondering about the actual deductions. Is there a "maximum" that they take out in a week for however many weeks it takes to pay it back, or do they take all of it in one week?
Wait, does wardrobe charge for mandatory uniforms?!?!? That sounds a little strange. Knotts gave me 2 uniforms, a jacket, belt, nametag and rain gear for free (well they give you a bill- usually around $90- but you only pay if you loose or steal stuff). All brand new clothing too (I have noticed that almost anyone who gets something from them gets a brand new item with the tags still on).

You don't pay for your everyday uniform at Cedar Point, its free. But anything extra that you want or might need like a belt or hat you have to pay for, but you get to keep it when your done.

Hi! Does everyone need a belt? I will be working at the magnum ride photo, so I was just wondering!

Thanks

No, Merchandise people don't wear belts. Or at least the shorts from last year didn't have belt loops. Merchandise got new uniforms this year and since the new shorts didn't fit me I got a pair of old ones that fit. I can't remember if the new ones had belt loops or not. When you get to Wardrobe and you try on the shorts check and see if they have belt loops, if they do then you'll need a belt.

Hope that helps!

It might do you well to keep some extra cash before you get paid the first time. I had 2 dollars to last me 10 days. That equalled 10 cans of chicken noodle soup and 10 ears of corn, plus the 15 pounds I lost and the appreciation for Kurds that I gained!
