payroll

How much (hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, season) does a ride op make? I want to work at CP sometime and would love too but i don't know how much you get paid.

$6.25 per hour for most jobs? Sounds like its definently worth it to me...

Lol...i didn't even think of going to the Cedar Point website...lol

It says "higher pay for leadership positions" (on the website).....what would a leadership postion be?

Would every ride op have to test the ride they are working? because i don't ride the big roller coasters and would like to work on one but not test it so would that be possible?

A leadership position would be, for example on rides, your crew's Team Leader and Assistant Team Leader. To address the amount of hours you work each week...well, it depends on what department you are in and what time of year it is. Early spring - not as many hours but in the summer (especially July-August) expect alot of hours (40-60) depending on your department.

I worked around 60 hours a week usually, and my take home was anywhere from 230 to 270. Hope that gives you an idea.
I would love to work at CP but they pay crap. I make what you make in a week in 5 hours. O well, guess im gonna have to keep cutting lawns.

Do you want a cookie or something? Pay is not the reason most people work at Cedar Point.

I agree. I would gladly work there for free, as in no pay at all!

The experience you get there is phoenomenal, but I believe very much that some positions are quite underpaid for what they do.
well i would have to say that the pay is good, i mean it could be better , could be worse , the once you get there you are all concerened with the money but when you start meeting people and making friends the money kinda dissappears out of your worries and the only thing you are worried about is satying there not quitting not getting fired cuz once you get fired or quit its all over some of theb est friends ever gone maybe not permanently but your time being cut off is not fair.especially if you make great friends with some of the internationals that could be your only summer with them and to have to leave early is so incredibly unfair. i was a cook at breakwater cafe and i was bringing home nice checks after the first month of them not paying me and when they did it wasnt enough i mean i had a job and i was still calling home or friends like hey they didnt gimme a check this week can i borrow some chedda. i was not too impressed with the way they treated employees but ity was an experience i will never forget , goin to louies every night and b dubs. unforgettable experience that i wouldnt trade for the world, just wish they could have treated us better.

I just finished my second season at CP, and well this year i didn't make nearly as much as I did last summer (2003). I was bumped into a leadership position this summer, but that didn't make much of a difference. The hours are really long and for me, when I got promoted things got really stressful and the hours got way longer. Don't get me wrong I made some decent money in rides an all, but when I would hear my friends who worked at Fridays and Johnny Rockets talk about what they made that day, I don't think i could work in rides again. Some of them made my weekly check in one night. I had a great experience my first year and my second year was just a good but I won't be back for a third. The stress and bull you have to put up with isn't worth the pay. Just be prepared to work a whole heck of a lot to make some money.
You know, it is funny. A lot of kids say they would work at Cedar Point for free. But, when they get hired, their first question is, "When do I get my first check?"

The bonus will add up pretty quickly and getting that check is a nice way to finish up the summer.

I went on the job site and the pay seems pretty good for all the extra benifits. Free admission, earn an additional dollar for every hour you work, free uniforms... Heck, I wouldn't even bother asking for the check, the extras are well worth it:

Dan, tell me that after you have worked there for a few weeks. I like your attitude. Most employees come in like that but leave feeling a little differently.

Not that it isn't a fun job because it is. But, I don't think you will be willing to forgo a paycheck for it because it is real work.

Bonjour, que vous soyez un idiot.

Good point, Chief Wahoo. I know I'd still like a paycheck, I'm just pointing out all the extras that come with working there. Of course, if there are even more or a whole lot less benefits then I think there are, tell me. Thanks!
The benefits are nice, getting into the park for free, four free tickets to the park, a parking pass, and well that seems about it from what I remember. There are other discounts around the park but they get you on so many things. You pay between 25 and 32 dollars to live there, if you want to live in commons, on-point housing is a little cheaper. Thats per week. The food is expensive in commons store and on-point for that matter, it all adds up real fast.

If you want to work at CP my advice is talk to some people who have worked there before. It can be fun and don't get me wrong I had fun my two years there, but this past summer, it was different. I felt like a slave working there. When you get to working 65-80 hours a week and only getting 6.25 for it, yea it gets to you. Just remember everything is not as good as it seems sometimes. Most importantly make sure you get your contract how you want it BEFORE you start work. definitly had some friends quit early because they couldn't get a few days changed. Go for it if you want to, just be careful, thats my advice.

I totally agree and would do it all over again :)
