Pay to Ride?

No, that's the kind of mistake one makes when they don't check facts. College journalism students don't make that mistake.

Hey, what do you expect for something called the "Free" Press? Actual fact checking?

Free Press is in regards to freedom of speech, freedom of the press... etc.  I wish it was free, the Free Press is actually a great newspaper.  But, since I no longer live in Michigan.. that really isn't an issue anymore... aaaanyway...  I'm sure that we're the only ones in a tiff over a mis-print about a rollercoaster...  I don't hold it against them.  Does the general public give a damn?  Nope...  they're wooried about the stuff on the front page, not something that was most likely buried a few sections back.

Yeah, thanks for the history lesson. I have a degree in journalism. I'm familiar with the Free Press. It's still a crap newspaper.

I'd have to agree with Jeff...There are too many papers that don't check the facts and print what sounds good. Whether this is too cut editing time for that week's paper or just sloppy journalism, it's unacceptable.

MF count: 23

Although I'm a Detroiter and get both papers, l it does irritate the heck outta me when they screw something up, and they do screw up a lot.  Hence the little "corrections" box they routinely have in the paper.  It makes one wonder about other inaccuracies.  I agree with Jeff.  If you are going to print something, at least get the facts right.

The writer told me "Cedar Point's offices were closed the day I wrote the article". Which is a bunch of bull(Not to mention where did he get that "no price has been set yet"). I am taking journalism class right now and one of the things that are stressed is get the facts right. It won't have killed to run the article a day later to get the correct facts from Cedar Point. After all the article was run about a week after the ride was announced.
