Pay to Ride?

According to Monday's issue of the Detroit Free Press, Wicked Twister will be a pay to ride coaster.
It says that "Each time you pay for a ride - no price has been set yet -...."
I cant find the article online (www.freep.com) but I will scan it.

Unless they have a fast pass system set up, which I highly doubt, I think this is just another example of how many stories in local newspapers are grossly exaggerated....some of you may remember an article a ways back claiming that MF "rattles your dental work like a wooden coaster." Also that they claimed S:UE was new to Cedar Point in 2000...stupid Journal Gazette.

I already e-mailed the guy who wrote it and corrected him.

That would really suck if you had to pay to ride. I doubt it though...

I have yet to see the Free Press do an article about Cedar Point and NOT mess something up..

I doubt they would want to do that because they usually add it to the admission price. Then again, if they decide to do that, that may be a bad idea. That may deter people from riding it because they be upset to have to pay for each ride where other rides are unlimited.

I just hope they think about this if they are intended to do this. That would just make it a wasted investment. However, they may do it for a reason...Do you think they are going to do that if they are because of the capacity issue?

Think about that one, but I doubt it. They can get the turnstile nos. to decent levels I am for sure.

Yea, according to the Free Press, Cedar Point's new coaster is not called Wicked Twister, it's called Wicked Subway! :)

I was going to email the FP this morning about their error. this is not the first time they've had innaccuracies regarding CP. They will most likely print the correction in a little tiny box hidden inside the paper.

Before I read this thread this morning, someone who had seen the article emailed me and asked me about this very issue. Silly me didn't realize that a huge thread had already started on GTTP, so I emailed Bryan Edwards, Cedar Point PR representative.

The last line of his response to me:

It is definitely NOT a pay-per-ride attraction.

As if we ever had any reason to doubt it.

OK, don't knock the whole friggin News Paper for a few stupid mistakes.  Stuff happens, aight.  There are a lot of good writers at the paper.  Mitch Albom to name one.
