I know we've forgotten or lost a pass in the past and CP was able to "look it up" in Guest services and grant us access to enter the park. They will only do this once or twice though and then they will charge you for a replacement pass ($15 I think) so it's not something you want to do repeatedly.

I made a color copy of the front & back of each of our 3 platinum passes and laminated them together. I keep them in our camper just in case I forget the actual passes. They came in handy once last season. Just an idea that worked for us. I've also thought about just scanning the barcode into my iPhone, but I'm not sure if Cedar Point's scanners can scan phone screens. I may try it this year.

Were they actually able to scan the copied passes or did you just use them to show guest services?
No, they are fully scan-able barcodes. They actually look just like our platinum passes, except that they are laminated in clear plastic. I didn't have any problems when I used them at the resorts gate. I got a funny look at first, but I just said they were our emergency backups and the girl thought it was actually a good idea.
Back when I had that situation,I paid for them - they stay with me-not open for debate.

Am I the only one slightly alarmed by this? Does anyone know what security protocols CP has in place to monitor fraudulent passes? If it is that easy to recreate a pass and use it for entry, it would be just as simple to copy another photo over the existing one....

Regardless of how or what they scan the barcode from, it's still going to bring up your picture and personal information on the computer. If that doesn't match what they see, you aren't getting in so I don't see how you could create a fraudulent pass without hacking the CP computers.
That's a great idea timilicia. I think I'm going to do the same thing as a backup.
Edit: Make a copy of my pass that is, not hack the CP computers, lol.
You could tattoo the bar code to your arm and scan it... you still have to look like the photo that appears on the screen when they scan.

My daughter ended up at Knott's Berry Farm without her pass so I texted her a picture of it. They just scanned her iPhone and let her in.
One thing I have wondered about, if you were to go to two Cedar Fair parks in the same day would the computer flag it as "odd" behavior? I've wanted to hit King's Island and Cedar Point on the same day, but I'm odd like that!
I've always wondered if a pass would block access if scanned in twice at the same park in a day. For example, you leave the park and don't get a hand stamp (or it washes off). Then, you go eat somewhere and decide that you want to go back in CP.
With a season pass, I've never risked not getting a hand stamp, fearing there was 2nd-scan block to prevent people handing off a season pass to look-alikes. Can anyone confirm?
