I know that my family has parked in the main lot at 7 am before, but that was way back in the early to mid 90s. I'm not sure what it is now, as the earliest I've been at a gate was 7 am this opening day, and I was staying at Breakers.
Someone have a more current answer?

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

it closes?
That's What I'm talking about... Can I roll up at 2:00 a.m. and be parked till closing that night???
Don't show up before 7:00.
The Main Parking Lot closes 1:00 am... Or atleast that's what it use to be.

But why couldn't you pull in 24 to park on the resort side? or at the marina? It's not like those areas would close.
don't you think cedar point would wonder whay some random car is sitting in the middle of their marina parking lot? ;)
Yeah, I can tell you the CPPD is not a big fan of that.

When my water pump went on my old car, it was in SC lot for 3 days and they did not care. I finally got it fixed after having to wait for the part to come in to the dealer. I could not find one at parts stores.
Peace, Mikey
Just don't sleep in your car. Apparently, that's illegal in Ohio. (Unless you're at a rest stop or a campground, I guess..)
My friend got busted sleeping in his car in a parking lot once when he lost his keys and couldn't go anywhere until a locksmith made a new one for him, which would have been the next day, had he been able to sleep in his car and meet him in the morning.
However, his car was towed and it took him 3-4 days to find it, the locksmith, and the money to get his keys and pay the towing.
Uh, people sleep on their boats and in resorts. So, I'm sure you could park overnight in the marina or resort lots and not get noticed. Your car would stick out in the Soak City or main parking lot for sure though. Soak City maybe not as much, but definitely the main lot.
^^ That probably depends on where he was sleeping. I know the mall by me has a no overnight parking policy. Which doesn't make sense since they have a pretty busy Friday's. Apparently they'd rather you drive home to avoid having your car towed than call a cab.

Okay...here's the deal, once and for all. I just called Park Operations and asked them what time the parking lot opens up at. The receptionist said 3 1/2 hours prior to park opening. Hope that answers your question.

Ok, maybe I'm missing something. But, if he was in the car when they came to tow it, how would he not know where it was towed to?
Also, if he lost his keys, how did he get in the car? Is he in the habit of leaving his car unlocked?

The parking lot closes at 1:00 am, according to the parking voucher.

Ok...here's the real deal. The parking lot opens approximately between 7:30 and 8:00. It depends on how fast the parking lot staff gets everything set up. If you get there any earlier you will have to wait to get in. I don't know what receptionist you talked to but she has no clue what time the parking lot opens.

It was open much earlier than that for Coaster Mania, but that was a unique situation.

Perhaps there is an "opening" time for the main parking lot, but I don't see how they wouldn't let cars in 24 hours. What if i was staying at the resort and wanted to get back to my room at 400AM after spending the evening outside of CP? I bet if AbsofBeer rolled into the point late one night and indicated that he was headed to the hotel they would let him in. I couldn't speculate on how they would react to someone sleeping/chilling in their car though.
