Parking in soak city

Anyone have any information on why employees are not allowed to park in the soak city lot this year? Seems kind of ridiculous seeing that the lot is mostly empty.

This is a employee lot right.

Employees have been allowed to park in the soak city parking lot until this season, with the exception of the parking ban in July and August. This made life much easier on challenge park and soak city employees, who now have to park their cars in the front of the park, and walk all the way back.

Why ask why? If this isn't your first season at CP you know what kind of corporate culture rules here. Marketing and some management types are worried attendence is going to be way down this year. Last year they lifted some (emphasis on SOME) of the parking bans due to not needing the extra parking spaces. And yet, somebody suddenly decided seasonal employee parking in the SC and Gemini lots was going to be a problem this year. Sometimes it is just better to shake your head and move on. On occasion someone gets a wild hair up their you-know-what and things change for no apparent reason. Then again they might have a good reason for the change in parking policy... who knows. It's not just you this affects... some silver tags have 'assigned' parking spots in the Blue Streak lot now, and a few of them are also grumbling about the walk. Seasonal employees can't park in the Gemini lot this year either. Now all the back-of-the-park people have to hoof it from the front or catch the bus to the P&D gate.

Won't be long and there won't be any seasonal parking on point... heh... you'll have to ride a bus onto the point. I think they do that at WDW (not to keep bringing them up). Everyone parks at remote gated lots and ride an employee bus into the parks.

CPL- You're correct on most counts, however only the Magic Kingdom has the remote cast parking lot. Additionally any cast who are required to park there receive "walk time" included in their paid day shift.

Just one advantage of being represented by a labor union.

Walk time...haha.. They are definently part of a union. I am starting to like unions more and more.

Excellent. Thought they had mentioned the remote lot when I took the walking tour at the MK. Our tour guide said it was nice to have 15-20 mins to just relax and unwind a little before work. She didn't like driving in traffic apparently and this was her chance to get in the right state of mind before work. Not a bad concept really.

Hmmm - interesting. In 2001, 2003, and 2004, parking in the Soak City Lot was allowed during the early and late season, but not in the middle (late June through early August) when they expected Soak City to be busy. At least that sort of made sense since Soak City is never going to be really busy in May or early June. I have to agree with CPLurker in that it is probably someones knee jerk reaction. It might make sense for one reason, but it's probably stupid for a number of others.
