parking

If i had to make the park bigger for more rides I would make parking structure that wuold take up 1/4 of what the lot is now. Does anyone one agree? Or is this a really dumb idea?
Parking garages are very expensive to build. The one down at Universal Studios is just HUGE and I am sure that it cost a TON of money to build.

Then tell me where is there next big 20-30 million dollar ride gonna go in a few years??? You may be right jeff that they don't have a space problem. But i tend to think that they do. Please explain this to me. :)

Welcome back Millennium Force riders...We all want to know how was your RIDE!!!!!
duh... everyone knows that the next huge new ride will start where Magnum was before it sank, then go out over the water for a while and then have a turnaround right where Disaster Transport once stood. ;)

A fairly large coaster will go in some fashion along the beach between Giant Wheel and the area where Oceana now stands (for one more year), possibly making an "L" shape toward Pagoda, burying that silly playground. That's my prediction for the next big thing, though I won't speculate as to when it will happen. But a nice CCI woodie the size of The Legend or The Villain could be had for less than $6 million... ;)

Want more ride locations?

-The area bordered by Mean Streak, the railroad, the restrooms, Gemini and Perimeter Rd.
-The entire bone yard. It won't hold junk forever.
-The area under, behind and around White Water Landing and stretching from the train station to Thunder Canyon.
-The MF island... still plenty of room there.
-The area now occupied by the Cedars Dorms. On-point employee housing won't last forever.
-The area from Paddlewheel to the Power Tower midway.
-The area along the west edge of the main lot (i.e., remove the out-of-park pavilions, build along the fence line).

The Cedar Point planning and development folk have surprised me every year now for fifteen years, I'm sure they won't stop.

"Cedar Point does not have a space problem"

Repeat after me:

Om Mani Padme Om...
Cedar Point does not have a space problem...

Perhaps you could make it a page banner, or maybe the Quote of the Moment.

"...toward Pagoda, burying that silly playground."

Yeah, it's silly, but my kid liked it when she was 4 years old. Now she's 9 and rides the Magnum & can't wait for MF, but when she was 4 & 5 she spent a lot of time there.

Sounds like you've got some information up your sleeve Jeff! I never thought of the idea that a CCI would go over on said location (Oceana to GW) I would have figured that spot for a Mad Mouse type ride. It's too small of an area for a big woodie. (IMHO)

I don't know this for sure, but trust me when I say that's a lot of room for a nice 100-foot out-and-back woodie.

I agree with Jeff, plenty of room there for a nice wooden coaster. And I'll say it again:

Boardwalk with a CCI Cy-clone...

(Gee, guess what I want to see at CP next? :) )
The Thrillride web site just posted another rumor about CP being out of space and moving the parking lot off of the peninsula. And we all know how reliable Thrillride is, so it must be true !!! LOL.
Seriously, we all know CP has plenty of land. It might take some rearranging or removing of old structures or rides, but there is more then enough space for a few more coasters.
Has anyone tried to give a place like that a totally false rumor, and have them post it?
Well...I posted an absolutely true (but easily misinterpreted) message about Cedar Point's capital improvement plan for '00 to rec.roller-coaster and one of those sites...I think it was ThrillRide...picked up on it.

Some of you may remember...it was something about hotel improvements and other sprucing-up, with the highlight being a new nightly spectacular show on the lake...and something really big planned for '01 that would dramatically change the look of the place. It was true, and it was from a reliable source, because it was Cedar Point's capital improvement plan for *1900*. :) Incidentally, the really big project to change the look of the place was the lagoon system, dredged in 1901.

What is a CCI coaster?
Custom Coasters International. They're a roller coaster company.
A wooden coaster company.

Thank you for riding Raptor and enjoy your day here at Cedar Point, America's RollerCoast!
RPMguitar, I agree that they will sooner or later probably sooner expand out into the parking lot and move the parking somewhere near TGI friday's. Why you ask. One of my friends knows Richard Kinzels son and he has said that CP has bought all the land From RT. 250 in to CP. Well I think that they will expand into the lot, may be wrong but that is my hunch. Sure you can build small world class coasters about the height of Raptor maybe taller in the park but not another coaster the size of MF. And no Richard's son has not said anything for the 2001 season yet.

they could get rid of the giant games building next to Dispatch Master Transport and the Demon Drop. all the kids working there could work on the new ride (which would be quite visible from the parking lot). this could help bring down the evening lines on raptor (when we all avoid the summer spec).

I'd like to know what "all the land from Rt. 250 in to CP" means also. As far as I know, most of the area is filled with homes and commercial buildings. There may be a few fields, but it's not a big open area like the original poster implied.
