Park Facts on CP & LE Railroad

Gomez's avatar

Everyone who has gone on Space Spiral knows how the spiel gives nice little facts about the park. What if CP & LE Railroad did something similar like the history of the park? It would add a little something to the ride I would think?

Yay or nay??

Maybe, but it more or less sounds like something they'd just let fall apart over time.

I was thinking of this the other day.

If they did it right, like at Disney, it could be pretty cool. I think the best way to do it would be to develop some kind of character that would travel with you, perhaps tell you some fun facts, and information about what you're seeing along the ride.

There is already Boneville, what else could you want?

Speaking of which, anyone notice the missing skeleton on the hand water pump? *** Edited 7/21/2006 7:09:04 AM UTC by Keith 2005***

Boneville is nice, but that's only from the back to the front trip.

The trip from MF to Mean Streak needs something.

I personally liked the secluded feel that you "used" to get from the Main Midway to the Frontier Town station. It was (and still is) a nice break from the hustle and bustle on the midways. I still like that part of the trip, even with Millennium Force there.

I don't see the need for another "auto" spiel. There already are too many of those in the park...
(cough) Iron Dragon's (cough) pitched-up speil that sounds like a bad remix of Alvin and the Chipmunks & The Chippettes is one that comes to mind right now. *** Edited 7/21/2006 8:24:01 AM UTC by BigHkid***

It actually already has something interesting. The first time my mother and grandparents went on CP & LP, they were absolutely thrilled with how close they got to the first hill of MF. Plus, almost everytime I ride, everyone is sticking their heads out looking at MF. Those who go a lot, like us, take seeing the #1 coaster in the world for granted, but to those who don't come to the park quite as often or are there for the first time, it is quite a sight being right next to MF.

In addition to that, it appears next year there will also be something very interesting to look at back at the old WWL site.

Well if nothing else they should get the "animatronics department" out there to do some work on boneville.

I think that halfway through the ride the engine crew should be kidnapped by bandits who take you to the next station. :)

No offense to Jon though ;)

I believe Dollywood does that sort of thing.

I know Great Movie Ride at Disney Studios does that. Your ride gets hijacked and your guide kicked off. And then in another scene he "rescues" you.

Don't forget Knott's, where the train gets hijacked by guys with wheelguns and bandanas over their faces. It's pretty fun.

Gomez's avatar

I don't think CP could pull that type of thing off, without coming off as being very cheap and fake.

Especially since they'd skimp on the uniforms and we'd be getting hijacked by guys in red and blue shirts and blue shorts with their hands over their faces.

lol

Either that, or you'd have sweeps in brightly colored yellow shirts hijacking the train with brooms.

Knott's train was very good with the bandits, but I think CP could do something similar and with some money twoards making it good it could be a nice addition. I do like the peace and quiet on the train now though so maybe it should just stay as it is.

Thrills Around the Corner!

Actually, the first couple of seasons the CP&LE operated they did do the hold up. I have some pics of the "hold up" When they started running multiple trains in the mid 1960's it ceased to be practical and was discontinued. I for one do not advocate it's return.
