Park Ambassador/VIP Tour Guide?

I received an email from a Matt LaRiccia wanting me to interview for a park ambassador position and a VIP tour guide position. The VIP tour guide position seems pretty self explanatory, but does anyone know what exactly a park ambassador is/does?

I don't know, but by all means take that job.
Be sure to look as nice as you ever have. Smile, have a good personality. Use good and proper grammar, as I'm sure you always do.

Good luck.

That's a choice job. Don't screw it up.

I'm thinking some more about you and this interview.

The VIP tour guide hosts the folks that pay for the grand, exclusive tour. Its expensive, so you'll use your customer-focused skills to make sure they have a good time while following the guidelines set by the company. You will know the park inside and out, you'll have a good knowledge of operations, and you get to be very good 'friends' with the ride ops and foremen, as these tours include FOL access. You'll likely meet and host celebrities as they come through, in that case probably teamed with higher-ups. I can't think of anything better.

As far as park ambassador goes, that might be a tie-in job for days when you don't have a tour, which I'm sure number into the many.
I think of various media days I've attended and I see guys and gals in blazers or nice polos posted here and there to greet and direct guests. The same would hold true for corporate functions the parks hosts, business meetings, things of that nature. The park has pretty, new things to show off this year, so enthusiasm and knowledge of those things would be expected.
I'd guess you'll have public contact galore and you might be counted on to resolve issues or put out fires. Maybe you'll walk the midways, either alone or paired up, and be available to park guests that have questions. You'll have park maps in your hand.

You might have some grunt work, too, every company makes the most of each employees time. You might set up and tear down, or be in charge of organizing events. I'd imagine you will NOT be lugging bags of ice or cleaning up protein, but you never know. The ambassador knows he or she might be on call for anything, and they go without complaint or attitude.

All these things are just guesses, but I bet I'm not far off. In any event, any ambassador anywhere is just that- the face and voice of the company. We've all noticed (at every Cedar Fair park) the emphasis on customer-first service, it's high on their list these days. Keep that in mind when you talk to Mr. Lariccia.
Know how to say his name, I'd go with laREACHia. There's no shame in asking, but then make sure you remember.
Keep your opinions to yourself, beware of tricky questions. Always speak as if you have Cedar Point's logo tattooed on your butt and you'll do fine.

I don't know you or your skill set, so please forgive the unsolicited advice. I was in customer service of some sort my entire life, including my college summers at Cedar Point. I'm excited for you, let me know how it goes. And if you don't take the job maybe I will. :-)

congratulations,Mentor person, on getting a chance to interview for it. Us Mentor area CP regulars hoping the best for you.
