Paint Paint Paint

But not fire engine red like so many proclaim.

Welcome back Magnum riders how was your ride?

I know that the tanks on the ready breaks were painted again this year, but to me, those look orange! :) But that color might not be the original color of the ride. Maybe they tried to color match with the rest of the ride as much as they could so it wouldn't look out of place. It doesn't really matter. I'd like to see Maggie painted - both track and supports need it pretty bad.

they have to change either the ID's colors or the Maggie's....with this new coaster. TOO MUCH RED!!!!....its going to be 3 1/2 red coasters in a ROW. Maggie, #16, Iron Dragon, and Mantis is partially red.

So you people are telling me that Magnum and Iron Dragon have NEVER had a paint job? I figured each of them would have had at least one paint job by now...
Magnum's original paint color was definitely a shade of orange v. red. Not a Cleveland Brown type orange, but more like a fire orange, a la Syracuse University's orange b'ball road uniforms.

I have some photos from '89, Magnum's debut season, and clearly the track is more orangy than red.

In addition, I am/was a boater and was very much into Checkmate Boats. Well, as some of you may know, these boats are manufactured in Bucyrus, Ohio. Well, their '90 catalog featured one of their offshore boats on its cover and, right there smack in the background, was a beautiful picture of the Magnum...Definitely orange...however, everybody does see color a little bit differently...

Actually I think Dan started counting his rides on Maggie back in '97, but his first ride was in '93.

I remember last year around this time everyone was sure that Mantis was going to get new paint for the 2002 season. It was disappointing to see it on opening day hideously faded and in serious need of some TLC. So this time I'm not going to expect a thing, maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised when May rolls around in '03. Oh and by the way, if I see one more ignorant person spit a loogie to the carp while in the queue.......!

I'm with you all the way on that post. There is something about kids spitting in the water and relishing the enormous carp eat the nauseating emissions that drives me to gnash my teeth. It’s just plan juvenile!!

Besides, I get to see enough of the carp-feeding in the canal in my backyard...

Oh MrCoaster, if only it was just "kids". I have observed fathers showing their sons the correct way to properly spit at the carp. I swear I'm gonna bring fish food for the poor creatures next time. They are so cute and doglike when they beg like that.
C'mon! Spitting at the carp is tradition. What would CP be without loogie loving-territorial-six foot man-eating carp?! :)

A loogie-free park...that's what it would be ;)

Anyways, what ever happened to the Mantis station renovation??

LOL You guys are crazy! :)

But hey. What about the poor Raptor? It may not be faded, but has nyone else noticed that it seems to be the only coaster that the seagulls seem to prefer as thier target? Its been so gross for so long. One word. POWERWASHER.

And btw. Yer all wrong about Maggie. She's not orange, red, fire engine red, fire orange, umber or orange red. Shes SCARLET...according to Crayola.com (a pretty reliable source on color, I think hehehe)

Oh, and I think I saw those carp turning into Troll's today. Either that or they finally DID catch themselves a human or two.
Hey. I just realized somthing. I think the fading has to do with the type of paint (I know...DUH...) but listen, has any anyone else ever noticed that the ones that have a fading problem (Mag, Mant. ID, etc) Are painted with a flat finish, (meaning no shine) and the ones that hold thier color (Rap, corks, Millie,) Have a glossy, shiny finish? Its got to have somthing to do with that.
Troy, have you heard of the edit feature?
Heh. Sorry. New here today.

Magnum's not Scarlet. Scarlet is one of Ohio State's colors, and it is too deep of a red to be Magnum's color.

So what's better; skydiving or riding in Raptor's front seat?

Heh. I was just being a smartass :). Had to argue too. And I've never been sky diving, but Id put money on Raptor's front seat, cuz its my favorite :)

Hey look! I learned how to use the EDIT function :)

WHOO HOO!!!
