Painful Rides?

I prefer not to go on rides that your head bangs against the head rests constantly. Do you know of any of these types of rides at cedar point? If there are any other rides you consider painful for any reason let me know. Please spell out the names of the rides, I have not been in 5 years so I'm not good with the initials.

Mantis and Maverick come to mind, and Mean Streak, while not necessarily a head-banger, is quite rough. Rough and crappy.

Definately Mean Streak. And if you ride Raptor, make sure you do not ride it in the very back. Really if you ride any coaster in the very back it makes for a rough ride.

That's crazy talk!

Back row, right-hand side on Raptor is an incredible ride. :)

It also depends on your height. Some people talk about headbanging on Corkscrew and Maverick, but I have never had a problem (I'm 6'1). As far as others, I would agree that Mean Streak is a very rough ride, but I dont hit my head on anything while riding. The only other coasters I have experienced headbanging on are Mantis and Wicked Twister, however Mantis is much worse.

Raptor can cause some, but I've ridden it enough to know how to avoid it.

Rough Rides like old woodies that can be bumpy on the behind don't bother me, it's thoses rides that have those pads at the sides of your face and you get beat up by them the whole time.

You know how they tell you to keep your head firm against the head rest for rides that start out the way top thrill dragster does, any one here not put thier head back? I bet that would sting.

I'll be back!

If you are only concerned about headbanging. The rides that have OTSR (over the shoulder restraints) are Maverick, Raptor, Mantis, Wicked Twister, maXair, and Corkscrew. Of those, the one's most likely to give you trouble are Mantis, Corkscrew, and possibly Raptor/Wicked Twister.

It really is different for each person... it all depends on your height, frame, etc...

It is all about steering in to the turns....or being drunk so your body flops around carelessly.

I have never had trouble with Raptor's restraints...as long as I am not sitting in the back.

I agree. Especially on Maverick. Lean into the turns and it isn't bad at all.

Everyone has their own spot on rides where they like. Some like the headbanging and head rush while others like a smooth ride; and it all depends on the coaster. But I believe a lot of people do not like Mantis because no matter where you sit or how tall you are, your head will bang against the harness and it does hurt, especially if you have ear piercings.

^Or it might be that half of the worlds population has a sensitve organ that gets abused because of the stupid restraint system.

I have yet to ride a standup where I dont get off thinking: wow this could have been an amazing coaster, if only it was a normal sitdown or floorless.

Erm, everyone is forgetting Corkscrew, well except josh :-p. that is one of the worst headbanging rides yet to date. I would also say raptor and mantis(even though they are good rides) are also headbangers.

Demon Drop! Be sure to lean your head forward when you're being lowered onto the track that takes you back to the station! :P

Corkscrew is pretty bad for me, and Mantis is kind of rough. But I'm 6'6 so its more my neck than my head.

So Mantis really is that bad? I want to ride it. It looks fun, and I am not afraid of it. I just don't want to get banged up too bad. In my opinion Raptor isn't rough, unless you ride it in the back. How is Mantis compared to Raptor?

it depends on where you sit. of course it is going to be the worst in the back, but in the front it is okay. the back really jerks you around loads. you get more airtime on mantis, whilst raptor's end break is not good at all, even if you sit in the front. frankly i love both rides but i would say mantis near the front is better.

The problem I've had with Mantis is the amount of strain on my knees...and on my misters.
