Packing List

I've been putting together a packing list from all the threads on this board, and was just wondering if you could see anything that I forgot, or anything that you don't think I need... thanks a lot!

Clothes: Sweatshirt, Old jeans, Lots of underwear, Lots of socks, Bathing Suit, Casual Clothes

(p.s. - I originally thought I should bring a sweatshirt and jeans for the cold days when I'm cleaning and stuff - before park opens and/or when it's closed - but now I'm getting the impression that you can't wear your own stuff?)

For Work: White shoes, Water bottle, Sunscreen, Bug Repellant, Paperwork/contract/Ids, Checkbook

(p.s. - do you recommend buying my own white shoes? how much are the ones sold at wardrobe?)

Days Off: Sunglasses, Backpack, Things to keep me occupied

Linens: Favorite pillow, Own blanket, Own sheets, Own towels, Beach Towel, Laundry Bag, Quarters, Soap

Contact with World: Laptop, Cellphone, Envelope and stamps, Pens/pencils, Pictures, Digital Camera, CDs and headphones, Books

Toiletries: Shower Shoes, Toothbrush/toothpaste, Razor and Blades, Shower Caddy, Mirror (small hand-held one)

Food Stuff: Mini-fridge (probably not going to happen), Drinks, Food/snacks, Dishes/cups, * NO microwaves

Room Stuff: Flashlight (why do I need this?), Lots of fans, Alarm clock, Insect killing stuff, Household cleaning stuff (one all-purpose), Umbrella (do I need this? lol), Combination lock

What's with all the "q"s in your post. I couldn't even stand to read it. Try editing it first. Sorry!

MANTIS ROCKS 2002 & 2003

I think she's asking all the questions because she wants help in what to bring with her. Some of us have never been away from home, and like to be sure we have what we need/don't need before we come.

Ubergigglefritz, it looks like a pretty good list to me. It's almost exactly like mine. ;)

Usually for pre & Post season you can wear regular clothes, depends on who your working with. Buy your own White Shoes, even if you go to payless they will be better than what is at wardrobe. Remember you will be on your feet alot, take care of them. I personally have a Laptop and have decided not to bring it. First because it could get stolen or smashed or any other number of horrible things. The other reason is I probably won't even use it because last season i barrely was ever even in my room. The only electronic I ever really used was my stereo to get me going in the morning. Mini-fridge GOOD, if you have access to one bring it. Flahlight???? As far as fans it depends where you are staying, if your in commons dorms I wouldn't worry about it to much, the AC is usually pretty chilly. Bring the umbrella is rains quite often. Hope that helps you a little bit.

I would bring a flashlight because there is the occasional rare moment when the power goes out. Last year I was in my dorm when the power went out and I didn't have a flashlight so it was pretty dark in there. I'm going to bring mine this year.

I brought my laptop last year, and my roommate had her desktop and I used both quite a bit (it happens when you don't have cable) hers to go online with, mine to play the Sims with. ;) I'm not sure if I'll bring mine this year or not because I don't know who all of my roommates will be. If I bring it, I might get a footlocker to lock it in when I'm not using it.

I know a lot of people don't spend a lot of time in their room, but I'm assuming me and my roommate spend more than the average CP employee. I was usually off by 6pm, so I would either go to the park, play on the computers, or nap. :)

Back to the Breakers this summer - 2003! :)

Thanks everyone for your help so far... I still welcome any other responses of course though, lol. I've added a belt to my list (just in case I can wear my own...). And I'm bringing my laptop, just because I have to have some connection to my email, I have other stuff I have to do this summer on my days off, lol. And I'm planning on keeping it locked up whenever I'm not using it, so hopefully that will keep it from getting stolen (they have lockers in gold, right?)... and I am planning on living in Gold, so yes... I will need LOTS of fans, if not a window AC, lol... Thanks for all your help so far!!! ~:)

No lockers in Gold as far as I know. . . the only lockers are in Commons Dorms. The general idea though is to buy a 'lock-box' and chain it to your bed hehe. Sounds crazy and a bit back-woods, but apparently it works.

Phoebe: Hi!
Rachel: Hi! I just want to apologize. I’m really sorry I was a baby.
Phoebe: That’s ridiculous Rachel, we were all babies once. . .Oh, you mean today!
Rachel: Yeah.

Yeah, there are no lockers in Gold, so buy a lock box. :)

My roomates and I used a tv/vcr a good bit in the evenings.

ONE freeway stamp a day... ONE

I found a footlocker at Target for $30. I called and they said they didn't seel them, but when I went in there, they had them. Beats $50 at a surplus store, and over $100 for a lock box at Meijers.

(3 1/2 hours until processing in and counting)

See you all soon!

Ohh, thanks Stepheny, I'll have to go look at Target! What section were they in? :)

EDIT: I actually went to Target and found one today, very nice, especially for only $30! They're near the luggage for anyone else who is looking! :)

I don't know if you can bring these or use them, but I don't think it should be a problem, but for like breaks or the ever so often need for a cooldown I am going to bring a waterbottle. Also it might be a good idea if it's allowed to bring a big water bottle and if you have a good freezer then you could freeze it at night and then have a nice cold drink most of the day and not even have to leave the post... Like I said I don't know if you can do that or not... I'm 1'st year as well, so... yeah...

Does anybody know if you are allowed to wear a regular dark blue sweatshirt with hook with no logo's what-so-ever? Or do you have to buy THEIR sweatshirts? I'd imagine it might look dorky with everybody else in their smurf suits, but if I could get away with it instead of buying a sweatshirt, so be it... I'd rather that then having to spend 20 - 40 bucks extra I don't have to... I'm sure I'll end up buying a smurf suit in the end, but ehh... f**k it, nevermind... I'll just get a smurf suit haha....
