P.A. Position

I was wondering if this unique position is also found at Knott's Berry Farm since its Cedar Fair also. Also, can anyone give me some samples of the speils you heard this season. Which ones your like which ones you hate.

From Raptor:
(Everyone has their own variations, but this is kind of what you are supposed to say.)
"Welcome aboard Raptor riders, please have a seat, pull down on your green shoulder harness, and fasten your seatbelt. If you have any trouble, don't worry, a friendly Raptor ride attendent will be around to help. Secure any and all loose articles, as Cedar Point cannot and will not be responsible for any items lost or damaged while flying on the Raptor. Please keep your hands and arms inside the wingspan of the Raptor at all times. The Raptor is going to take you up 137 ft, drop you down 119 ft at speeds approaching 60mph, you will go upside down 6 times, 4 different ways, so sit up right, hang on tight, enjoy your flight!"

I don't know about the other coasters, but on Magnum, the person with the microphone in her hand is the critical person on the platform: as the tower operator is monitoring the train on the lift, it is the person with the microphone who is monitoring the station and who gives the GO signal to the control operator. Kind of performs the function of a co-dispatch but without a special pushbutton to press.

I've heard speils done at other parks, but usually only once every few trains or they're recorded. For examples of spiels, visit my CP page (URL below) and go to the Iron Dragon and Disaster Transport pages - those are the rides I've worked, and I put the spiels up there both for load and unload.

I've heard great spiels on Raptor especially, stuff like "take a good look at the floor because when it's gone so are you" and such like that. I know one of my girlfriends worked Snake River Falls and they were supposed to incorporate the dimensions of the wave into the spiels, but I wouldn't know what they are.

"Oncoming riders, welcome to the Magnum XL-200. We're gonna take you up 205 feet and drop you 194 feet and eight inches at a sixty-degree angle so please buckle those safety belts and make sure your lap bars are secure. Please remember to remain seated with your hands, arms, legs and feet inside the train at all times, and put those cameras away because although the setting is beautiful, picture taking is strictly prohibited on this one mile track to the lake and back, which will take you two minutes and thirty seconds to complete at speeds reaching seventy-two miles per hour. This means you must hold on to your loose and valuable articles, because Cedar Point cannot and will not be held responsible for anything lost or damaged on this ride....clear means you're outta here so sit upright, hold on tight, and enjoy your ride here on the NUMBER ONE rated steel coaster in the world, the Magnum XL-200, only at Cedar Point!"

Interspersed into that (there are variations, that's just the one I used most of the time and all have the same basic idea ;) ) the PA Host/Hostess has to wait for the knock on the plexiglass from the Controls operator and then say "Ready"(this means discontinue loading) and then knock once when the lap bars should be locked and then when the Controls person knocks twice they say "Ready ready"(this means LET'S GET THIS THING OUTTA HERE!) and when all of the platform hosts have given the thumbs up signal, he/she knocks twice and that's when the "clear" part of the spiel comes into play, and the train is sent on its merry way. WHEW!

But I don't know what they do at Knott's. Sorry. :(

Don't step on the line that looks like butter, or you'll be toast.

I this dude on MAGNUM said two "stay behind the yellow line.

"Unless you are a girl with ruby slippers, and you have a dog named TOETOE, please stay off the yellow brick rode"

"I don't step you friends so don't step on mine, please stay behind the yellow line

-------------
Number 1 And Only Cedar Point.
I like how some of the operators refer to the yellow line as thier's like.
"Rider's on MY platform, please get off MY yellow line"

I also like
"You guy's are clear, your out of here, see you back here in however many minutes and seconds"

This one 'dude' on Magnum said:

"You'll be taken up higher than Woodstock Express, travel faster than the Antique Cars, over a track longer than Jr. Gemini, on an angle less than Millennium Force, please hold on tight, and enjoy your ride on da Magnum"

I'm positively sure that it wasn't said exactly like that, but it's close enough.:)

The Forensicating Geminazi should have much to say in this thread but I don't see him around too much. It's a pity, his spieling was awesome.

When I went back and worked Magnum this summer, I would say "On comming riders welcome to the tallest, the fastest, and the steepest roller coaster on this side of the park, The Magnum XL-200.

At Raptor we would very our spiel every time. Our team leader Jessica use to say "For your saftey we ask that you please put your cameras away. This is a 8 Million dollar roller coaster, not a kodak moment. I don't want know what a camera feels like going 60 mph and I am sure you don't want to know either.

My favorite of all time was on the Mantis, of all things...

"We're going to take you up 137 feet and drop you 140 feet... (pause) oh, that would be bad"

Indeed, Natalie, the Forensicating Geminazi kept us entertained everytime he stepped into the control booth. But my favorite speil of all time is of course the faster than the speed of light speil.
"Riders, you'll be traveling at speeds so incredibly fast you'll never know you left the station...(pause)...WELCOME BACK Gemini riders, how was that ride?!?!"
The funniest part was watching to see how many people even managed to catch it. Good times. Good times.

9 positions in 4 1/2 hours and still keepin' both sides happy!
My favorite, on Mantis. "We will raise you 600 feet in the air, drop you more than 10 feet, at speeds aproaching 17 miles per hour!!" Or also, "Youl go up 137 feet, drop 135 feet, and turn you upside down way more times than that big blue thing over there". Or even Cedar Creek Mine Ride, "Cedar Creek Mine Ride, The Real Millenium Force!"

At Millennium Force, the only real PA position is at unload dispatch where you say something along the lines of,"Welcome back riders, how was your ride?! When the train comes to a complete and final stop, unfasten your seatbelt, lift up on the yellow lapbar, and exit to your right. Thank you for riding Millennium Force and enjoy the rest of your day here at Cedar Point America's Rockin' Rollercoast!" Of course we would improvise and make it better than that. We also had to give the spiel about not being able to wait for any seat on the train, particularly the front or the back seat. We had auto spiels at the load platform so we don't really get to say, MF will take you up 310' and drop you 300' at a 80 degree angle and fun stuff like that. The only thing we got to say was "Clear, riders please keep your arms and hands inside the train at all times. Sit up right, hold on tight, and enjoy your ride here on Millennium Force!"
