Has anyone worked at one or know anything about working at them? I got the call from Cedar Point today and they interviewed me and said it would be for a job at most likely a Dip n Dots cart.....definitely not one of my top choices. In everything I've read everyone says you become the closest with the people you work with....but I would be working all alone. Standing alone at a cart outside outside all day is definitely not my ideal job. I did tell him this but he said to do the interview anyway and maybe some other options would come up. I'm thinking if it's my only choice I might not being going to CP this summer after all, even though I was really looking forward to it..... Anyone have any positive experiences with this specific job? Change my mind! :) Also I was wondering how long it usually takes after your interview to recieve your contract in the mail? Thanks!

Well I guess one positive thing about working in a Dip-n-Dots stand is that you have your own personal A/C! Other then that I am sure that you will have the chance to meet other foods employees, and the opportunity to work other locations. I'm not too sure how Food Services works, but I am sure that you will be moved around quite a bit.

I'm not saying you should, but you could probably eat tons of free dippin dots. How is that not awesome?
While its not the job I would choose by any means, I'm sure I could deal with it. My only issue is the whole working by myself thing. I was looking forward to meeting and becoming friends with tons of people, but now I feel like I'll kind of be isolated.

You will still have opportunities too meet people outside of work. ESD (Employee Services Division) events are a great way to meet new people. There are also plenty of opportunities when you come back home to Commons, most people at Cedar Point are friendly and very open to meeting new people.

Now, I don't work in Food Services, but I have observed that during peak season, Dippin' Dots carts often have 2, even 3 people working at them. One is usually taking money, and the others serving. Just something to think about.

Thanks! It just makes me nervous enough to go without knowing anyone, and then I'm paranoid I'll never make any friends haha.

While it can be pretty overwhelming at first, given the fact that Cedar Point is such a big place; it will become second nature quicker then you think.

Hi, I'm in merchandise, and we have outside carts that are placed around the park. They sell lots of different items, like sunglasses, and so fourth. Plus there are carts at the exit of some rides that sell items centered around that ride, and other merchandise as well. The same person does'nt always work the same cart everyday, they change sometimes. That's so it is'nt boring, and I'd assume the foods department does something similar. I've walked the park during my off time, and there are many different locations that sell dip-n-dots. I did'nt always see the same person there, and I think you'll have other areas they'll put you in, maybe even a quick serve location, there are 44 of them. You'll have fun, believe me you will.

Hey! Your name's not Alissa Balsbaugh, is it?? (alissaB?)
But anyway, look at it this way, you look like a cute girl....guys aren't going to NOT want to talk to ya!?! I think you'll be fine....
Wagons (as the carts are refereed to as) are not that bad plus Dippin Dots is really nice if you get the "Indoors" one like over at Iron Dragon last year. We actually ended up getting Dippin Dots wagon along with a Hot Dog one and Then later Kettle Corn. It turned into this cluster mess of wagons but we did get some "free samples" due to them storing their supply in our area behind the stand.
Also Area 2 wagons or "Millennium Camp" are the biggest slackers around and most of the time just open and close when every they feel like it. Ok so maybe that was not all the time but still. There were many times I would have killed to be at the "Dragon Dot" just because its size is so small thus making preparation and cleanup so friggen easy. Try handling CJ's/Toot Sweets for a Saturday in October then get back to me.
There are plenty of chances to meet quite a few people from ESD events and trips plus you get to know others in your area after time. Halloweekends was everyone relying off of every other stand for us to survive and get things done. I still talk to a few people still and even forced me to get a Facebook account (Not Myspace...... Yet).

I loved working the Dippin' Dots cart (although this was at another park, not CP). But I have an extreme love of ice cream, so getting to smell it and handle it (and eat it shhhhh) all day was my idea of a dream job.
Like someone else mentioned, if your division is overstaffed then you will probably at times have another person working with you. Plus, the carts are usually so busy that you won't have time for idle chit chat anyone.
Working a cart would actually be a good way to meet a lot of other employees, I would think. You'll get to befriend the other people who work wagons and carts, and have the opprotunity to talk to a lot of employees from other divisions that pass by or stop to buy some ice cream themselves. (Although in reality you aren't allowed to BS with another employee if you or them are on the clock, but whatever).
If you're living and working at CP, the last thing you need to worry about is making friends. There will be opprotunities literally everywhere.
Working Dippin' Dots is very easy, and set-up and clean-up is easy too. Plus you don't have to start as early as a lot of other employees. I would say definetly go for it and make the best of it.
You will probably first be able to make friends with the roommates that you end of staying with. Another way that you can make friends is by starting talking to some online and get to know them before going to cedar point and meet up with them later on when you get there. i met my last year roommate here online and we became good friends and still are. i also got to meet other friends on here as well and met them at cedar point. so if you don't get around to meeting friends in your area, I'm sure you'll meet plenty of friends/other employees throughout the park and where you stay at during the summer.
