Lol, I went to sfgam this week and spent $7 on two cokes. they have the most outrages prices I have ever seen.

a soda was $3, a water was $3.50 OUT OF THE MACHINE

Jeff,

Overtime is time worked past 40 hours (usually) per week. It generally pays 1/2 time your hourly rate in addition to your hourly rate, hence the term "time and a half".

It's one of the best ways to be compensated, IMO. People who are self employed or salary are working for free after 40 hours, again, IMO.

I have the best of both worlds. 40 hour salary AND paid time and a half for hours worked past 40.

I am sure you know what overtime is, Jeff. You just aren't being paid for it.

Carry on...

Do you think I was born yesterday? Do you think at the ripe old age of 30 I've never worked an hourly job or knew it was time and a half?

Dave and I were demonstrating something called sarcasm. Ever heard of it?

I agree, but on the 20oz pop thing CP rival park pki is priceie of 20oz pop at 3.00$!! some are even 3.50. When i've been at pki they have alot of very high pricing on the things to.
Sure you can buy Pepsi cheaper at Meijer but it's not that simple. CP has a much different overhead than a store. Can you imagine their electric costs? How about their insurance costs, paying thousands of employees,
and oh yeah...new attractions that continue to be cutting edge.

I'm sure that CP could charge less for food but then they would have to raise their admission prices. Seems like a fair trade off to me.

How many other parks have large picnic areas available to anyone who would like to bring their own food? CP doesn't force anyone to spend anything.

CP is a business. They are in it to make money not provide a public service. If they aren't profitable we won't see big new attractions and improvements.

I know other parks have higher prices than CP, but they should charge more to get in and less for food.

2003 Stats.

Trips to the Point: 6

TTD: 1 (16 rollbacks seen)

WT: 12

Mellennium: 4

If CP raised the cost of admission. No one will want to go. At least I won't (probably a lie :) )

Look at Disney. WD wanted a park where the average American family could go and have a good time. Their prices are outrageous nowadays and it's basically focused on upper class individuals or people who go broke vacationing there.

I have to agree with Browntggr...bring your own food and eat in your car. That's what I do everytime I come to visit for a day. I spend NOTHING in the park on food...maybe that's just because I'm cheap but hey...whatever works.

I have been biting my nails wondering what they are going to do about season pass prices for the 2004 season. Anyone hear what they're going to be charging????

I doubt the 2004 season passes will be much more, if any, money.

The Dragster bottle is a pretty good deal if you're thirsty. But it's a lousy design to carry all over the park.

I've seen creative people rig theirs with heavy string and carabeeners and hang them from a backpack or belt like you would a Nalgene water bottle.

Having everything else cost a lot compared to paying for it in one big ticket price softens the psychological blow to your wallet.

You are still spending the same amount roughly, but it seemingly is less painful when your money floats away in smaller increments.

Speaking of ball park prices....I went to a Yankees game last week and a beer was 6 or 6.25. Ridiculous!

What makes sporting events worse is that they only last around 3 hours, where when you are at CP it is usually around 12 hours.

Beer and golf Thursday thru Monday, Cedar Point & beer, Tuesday and Wednesday.

I don't see the 2004 prices any more. A few days ago they were on the web site and now they are gone. The early buy in period was until around Nov 14 and the price was 85 (same as last year). However they raised the parking pass again by 5 to 35 dollars.

Now the site states that prices are coming soon. I hope they didn't have a change of heart and are going to raise the price ;)

No ! They do not have Freeway for Dragster.

Virtual Midway has a press release with 2004 season pass info.

It's not war, famine, or pestilence; it's only downtime.

Busch Gardens Tampa must not be having a strong year. They are offering a Florida Resident special.

For the cost of a regular admission ticket you now get a meal, drinks through the day, and a snack along with it. It is an "inclusive" ticket, at least to some extent.

Cedar Point isn't doing anything differently than anyone else in the entertainment business. Soda, beer and food costs more at amusement parks, stadiums, concerts, resorts, etc. Heck, the prices are even higher at turnpike rest stops.

Disney set his prices not to get certain people in but to keep certain people out. He didn't want "riff-raff" in the park ruining the day for others.
