Hey all, Im taking a little rest here at my house (since i live in Sandusky) and just wanted to let you know a few things:
-This track is really at breakers express. Im 99.9% sure its intamin, and i believe its red.
-I got the first public ride on Skyhawk and its awsome, however, there is an ungodly load/unload time, sometimes up to 5 minutes!!
-Every ride in this park has been down at least once today. Magnum was stuck at the top of the hill for an hour and they actually had to unload the people off the ride, Millennium was broken, skyhawk didnt even open on time because it was down. Even Mean Streak had a 30 minute down-time today, its pretty pathetic.
-Dragster IS OPEN AND RUNNING, however there have been a lot of rollbacks and a lot of downtime, they've switched at least two cars on/off the tracks so far.
-The weather is not near as bad as i thought it would be.
-all around the construction site there are signs that say different things,
"here we go again!"
"were going in a whole new direction!" (or something close)
"howdy bronco! this here's a construction zone!"
just thought i'd let everyone know.
looking forward to tonights fireworks, im sure there will be people later to answer more questions

I don't know what I'm excited for more, whether it be that TTD is running, Skyhawk is up, their's actual track (the guy from coastercrazy.com was LUCKY, what a picture) or that tonight is Prom. I'm very jealous that I couldn't be up there today, but I am sure tonight will be no where close to a day (even opening) at Cedar Point.

Based on some pics I saw, it looked like there was a rail in an odd place, like a rotator rail,

Is it typical Intamin track, or does it look like the track for X does?
I couldnt really tell, the only reason that I even realized that it was track was because the wind blew the tarp up just enough that i could see it. I thought right away it was intamin, but i saw someone in the park that said they think its for an aquatrax but i dont know, since I personally don't know much about the aquatrax at all...
Headin back into the park now, if I see anything else interesting i'll let you guys know later on!

Just talked to a friend who is in the park right now. He said that although there has been downtime on rides, everything seems to be running well. Waits have been 45 mins on average for the major coasters, less for others. I heard that MF was hitting interval perfectly for over an hour.
Sadly, the past 5 minutes Ive been watching the Funcoast Cam, I haven't seen one train go over either MF or Dragster.
::sigh:: I wish I was at the park... 13 more days...

I hope it's not a aquatrax, I'm praying it's not a water ride of any kind, even though thats what all the signs are pointing that it is.
damnit - i was hoping the load times wouldn't be bad for skyhawk. but, it took forever to load the 8-seater at dorney park with the same restraints, so i was a little scared too. hopefully they can speed it up.

I'm keeping track of TTD's days without a full day of no operation in my signature. *** Edited 5/7/2006 2:02:42 AM UTC by Gomez***

Well I just got home from the 4 hour Drive from Cedar Point! AWESOME! I was on the First Ride of Skyhawk (VIP RIDER) that was fun but it did take a while on the load time. Our ride was delayed because the ride was down! TTD yes it was running and I was Shocked!! Mantis had a few times of stoping on the lift hill. MaXair wow what a mess that was today, when the ride was done the just slowly swang until it stoped and then they let us off. Later that night they Closed it! But I had a blast on my first Opening Day!!

I heard the ride op commenting on the Skyhawk load time and she was saying it will be better when they have a "4-man operation". Sounds like they may have 1 employee checking each side of each arm, which would speed it up alot. Plus those restraints are kinda odd on there, most of the people getting on didn't realize (or were just too lazy) to pull down the silver bar towards themselves, which just adds to the load time.
Ok back from the fireworks and I forgot to mention one awsome thing...
THE RECORDED RIDE SPIELS ARE GONE!!!! the ride-ops now all have microphones and they got rid of all the recordings!!! *** Edited 5/7/2006 3:26:03 AM UTC by Gerg***

No way there gone, I love those ride spiels. Nice trip report, yeah watching the funcoast cam before work today, seeing MF running then no seeing TTD, then seeing TTD running was good. Can't wait for my trip on the full days 16th-17th.
Quote from a Corkscrew ride op, "And Dragster is down again"
i was there today, every ride had it's problems today
btw, I WAS ON ON THE TRAIN ON MAGNUM THAT WAS EVACTUATED ON, we were sitting up there for almost an hour and let me tell u it was WINDY and cold as the ninth ring of hell up there after about ten minutes
Greg, you are incorrect to say there all gone. Both Iron Dragon and Corkscrew have new spiels featuring what sounds like two animated people; a male and female. Perhaps you didn't ride those rides.
Last year when Skyhawk was first announced and everyone bashed it because they thought it was going to be so similiar to maxAir, I tried to keep an open mind; however I must say that I am personally very dissappointed in Skyhawk. It is over before it starts, the arms reach their full extensioin for 1/2 revolution. But I'll talk more about that in the Skyhawk thread.
Yes, TTD was up and running, but it was running extremely slow. Everytime I went by, the trains were full sitting on the launch with another two in the station ready to go. Really, I wouldn't say TTD was up, it was extremely spotty at best. Once again, I thought with all the trouble they had last year, it would have been in top running condition for opening day, not still working out the bugs.
Also, maxAir was down from about 2PM on. I was in line and they couldn't apply the brake so it just kept swinging back and forth by the base.
Overall it was a good day, I'll talk more about the new stuff later. I need sleep now.

Right. They're not gone, and they are, but they're not.
They're gone. Thank God, too; creativity is far more successful in helping to deliver those safety instructions. Also makes the day go by FAR more quicker for the crew. Once again, thanks Falfas for the change in policy for this season. The new headsets were a fantastic idea too.
