Opening Day Spartan Style!
I'm sitting at my desk here at work with Heavy Eyes but still a smile on my face.....Had a Great Opening Day, however it didn't start out that way with Maggy, Mantis, and Raptor all being down at 10am...Didn't give me the greatest vibe for the season but oh well..They were back up shortly and a riding we went...This trip was spent with my loving sister Janelle and we ventured to meet Dan and Anne at the Maggy gates at opening..Went immediately over to Magnum to satisfy Mr Haverlock's Fetish and while in line met up with Luvraptor (Jo) and Hooper (Matt) and rode with them a few times...Two rides of Maggy was enough for me with Shorts on so off I went back to the Jimmy for some pants...hehe..Met back up with the Gang and headed over to Mean Streak...Yes it was rough but hey I like it that way damn it...:) Hit CCMR along the way and was given Celebrity Status by Good Ole Natalie ride op!! Thanks Girl..You made us Blush ;) CCMR was smooth and running great! Then we preceded to make our way over to Milly and wait about 2 hrs for our 1st ride of the season..She was having blocking and set up problems as well as slow braking problems coming into force station which added to the wait so that kind of sucked but hey its early in the season and that can be expected...At least she had all 3 of her trains running on opening day! By the time we got out of line we had missed the 1pm Magnum meeting (Sorry for anyone who waited for us:() We were all famished so decided to head over to my Spartymobile for a good old fashioned Tailgate SPARTAN STYLE!! Hope you enjoyed the setup and food folks! We had a cookout and had quite a spread..Tossed the football around for a bit with the coasters as our backdrop..Bit different than MSU's campus but a great scenery none the less! We had Dogs, Chips, Pops, few golden beverages, and much more! After we stuffed our bellies we could see Jo was hurting for her favorite bird of Prey so we decided to head off to Raptor..However in the fray of getting over to her we could see from a distance that indeed she was down again and besides we lost Jo somewhere in the mix as her kids snatched her up along the way...Cya soon Jo! With Raptor being down we lollygaged for a while and hit BS a few times (Work paid off folks! SMooooooth!!) and hit some stores along the way and did a bit of game playing too before finally hitting Raptor when she returned to us..By the time we got off it was the 5pm meeting time for raptor and ran into Red Garter Bob who indeed to no ones surprise had a beer in his hand..hehe..I would of been disappointed to not see one after reading his posts..My sister and i decided to split off for a bit (Dan knows why..hehe) and we went and hit Banshee and Power Tower as my sister had never been on them before and we wanted to hit them before we left. Met back up with Dan the man for a while and hit Dragon together before Mantis and then My sis and i closed our Day on Force one more time before Splitting a bit early..Some of us had to work at 6am Mr Haverlock :) (whose probably still sleeping at Breakers as i write this!!):)
All in all it was great Day and I'm looking forward to this coming weekends all weekend stay at CP's new lighthouse point..Should be fun hanging out with close friends right on Lake Erie and riding some more!!..they know who they are!!
Some Observations about OD I thought was interesting....
*Right now Rockets is a mess and not even close to being done..They just have the Sign out front with a mess of construction...
* NO MORE Cartoon Coaster Signs..At least not yesterday anyways..Like Walt said in his report..Just some boring new ones with no character at all..
* There was no old Fascination Tables in the Frontier Trail museum..There'd better be soon folks..That's History there..Dan and I were bummed!
* Lots of Landscaping to be done!

Dan, I found out when that 10:00 show starts. The lemon chill guy told me it starts at 9:45. :)
Anyways, JS, I feel your pain. I do not want to be here at work today. 4 1/2 hours on the road and 5 hours of sleep just isn't fun, but the trip made it worth it. I know MF was having blocking problems, we got stuck in the station before our 2nd ride. They took the red train off then couldn't get the rest to come up. Any ideas what was wrong with red? I tried to ask, but since I have no pull, I couldn't get anything other than "I don't know what's wrong, but we'll have it fixed soon..." Great day at the park, first time I've gone with my dad in years.
On a related note to that, my dad made me realize a point that Dan made last year when asked if he liked MF or Magnum. My dad and I came up with the decision that they are just two completely different rides. MF is built for speed, it accomplishes that goal and then some. Magnum is built to be, as my dad put it, more thrilling. He said that MF is thrilling down that first hill, but the rest is purely speed. On Magnum, he said the tunnels and the bunny hops really make the ride more thrilling. He basically told me he likes MF, Magnum, and Raptor equally, because they all are great in their own respective ways, and they just can't be compared to each other.
Anyways, enough of my rambling. It was great to meet those of you I did meet, hope to meet more of you.

Great to meet you too yesterday ucsigep! I suspect that Red was having some wheel problems or possibly some of the problems that kept in sitting in the midways this past test week while yellow and blue were cycling.
Isn't it great hanging out there with Family!! I was with my sister yesterday along with the others you seem me with and just had a blast. Would of been nice chatting some more..hopefully sometime this season ucsigep!

Yeah, I was thinking the same. I would of hung around more, but I don't get to hang out like that with my dad too often. It was kind of funny, though. When we saw you guys in MF queue, he looked around for a second, then said "you know, I think I'm the only senior in this line. Nobody else around here even looks close to 60, let alone 61!" I thought that was pretty funny.
