Opening Day-Great Time at CP

Well I decided to take the advice I had been given and head on down to the park even though none of my friends wanted to go with me. I had a good time and will probably go alone some more this season. Some of the coasters were having problems, but I had a good time anyway.

Started off early and took route 2 instead of the turnpike. It got me there quickly and I may use this route more in the future. I got to the park around 10 am. First I headed over to Dragster. The que was closed, but there were some people already in it, so I decided to wait. I ended up waiting 3 hours due to the occaisonal rollback, but I ended up talking to a couple of people in line so it wasn't too bad. I rode front seat for the first time and what a rush that was. TTD is a great ride.

After that, I headed back for walk-ons on Magnum and Gemini. They were both running pretty well. The second train after I got off Magnum got stuck on the lift hill and I heard it was there for a while, so I'm glad I missed that.

I then headed over to MF and the wait wasn't too long, but there seemed too be some downtime in there so it was about 2 hours. While waiting, I overheard the first of many of the funny things I sometimes hear in lines. My favorite last year was someone explaining to someone else that TTD kept going down because there were no rollback brakes so everytime it rolled back it broke the ride. This trip someone asked the person they were with if Lake Erie was a salt water lake and they replied yes. Kinda funny to hear. The ride itself was great as usual.

I then headed over to Raptor for the meeting, but I looked at the entrance itself and not at the tables as I found out later, so I ended up missing everyone. I decided instead to head over to Wicked Twister, but it was down, so I got some food and waited a bit. It came back up before I finished eating, so I headed over and got in line. The wait was short, but it went down just as I got on so they unloaded and put us back in line. I waited and had a great ride 20 minutes later. I then went back to Raptor and waited about 15 minutes to get a great ride in the back car.

After that, I rode Corkscrew in the back, which was fun, and then Iron Dragon, jsut to see what it was like with new paint. It was bumpy as ever, not a very good ride.

I headed back to MF and just by change ran into Tony. He got into line behinf me, and we started talking about coasters, along with another person in line, and I found out he posted here. Had a fun ride in his favorite row.

I then tried to get a ride on Mantis, but the line was moving slow, and it went down while I was waiting, so I decided to leave and go catch one last ride on Dragster. I ran into Tony again, but he was waiting for the last train of the night and I wanted to ride sooner since I had a long drive ahead of me. I only waited an hour and had a fun ride. After that, I left for the long drive back.

Overall, it was a fun day. There was no rain, but it was a little chilly later in the day. Going on my own wasn't the big deal I thought it was since I had fun talking with others in line, so I will be doing it again in the future. Once again, great opening day at CP.
