Opening Day a la CoasterMonkey

Got to work at about 9 am today, ready for another great day at work... and it worked out quite well. The ride was going pretty smooth for the majority of the day. I saw Raptor Jo in line and said hi to her. I saw quite a few coaster club people today as well.

Most interesting part of the day, while working, was when the ride e-stopped and to get the train back into the station they went, tied rope around the train, and the managers and maintenance people pulled that sucker all the way in. How cool is that? To have managers that get that involved in everything is awesome!

Finally the time for cutbacks came and I got out from work at 6:30. That's when my plan sprung into action. Straight to the bathroom. A quick wardrobe change in the stall (I had superman music playing in my head during that), run over to clock out, dash over to grab a burger, grilled cheese, fries, and iced tea from the Caf, and then straight into line for Dragster!! (Finally, after being there since April 21st, I would get to ride it!)

Stood in line with cool fellow emplyee and also a fellow cedar point fanatic. My line-cleaning instincts kicked in for a bit and I was picking stuff up for a while I was waiting until I saw a huge pile of cheese-sauce-covered trash that I wasn't about to pick up... so I decided to give up. I would end up waiting 4 hours and 15 minutes, but I didn't particularly notice because I had such cool people with me.

Finally, we're getting up close to the station and I'm getting incredibly nervous and then.. they're starting to let people into the station.. and... and... oh my... we're right behind the cutoff point!!! Front seat!!!! Yeah!!!!

Get in, strap nice and tight and the butterflies are going nuts. I can't belive that finally after so many months I'm in the front seat and ready to roll. Soon enough we're rolled into position and I'm just going nuts. And then.. IT happened. We're going... I've never felt cheek flap before today... but now I'm on intimate terms with it. It goes FAST. It is pure speed. And the I guess I went up and came back down.. it's kind of a blur. It was incredible. I can't wait to go again... if only to remember more of the ride :) If you asked me right now, I would tell you it's my favoritest coaster in the whole wide world. But I'm in the afterglow... gimme a chance to ride it a few more times.

I cannot say enough that the ride was worth every second of my wait... everyone should go and ride this as soon as possible.

I have pictures of the train being pulled back in. My friend got stuck on it just before we were going to get on it. I've never seen such a thing in my life.
