Who generally attends opening day? What I mean is, is it more season pass holders and coaster enthusiasts compared to the usual mid summer crowd? I haven't gone opening day before and this year will be my first. Also, from your experiences in the past, has it been crowded opening day?

-Yes, its mostly SPers and enthusiasts (most of whom belong to both groups.)
-It depends on the weather on how crowded it is. And from my experience the last two times, summer weekday would be what I would describe it as (ie maybe a 2 hour wait for Maverick MF and TTD in the middle of the day but otherwise no line longer then an hour.)
I have been to 3 opening days befor ebecoming an employee...One of the best CP days of the season!

^That's how I'm feeling right now. I hate the feeling when it's middle of winter and your dying to ride some coasters, it's killing me! That's why I'm thinking of going on a spring break trip to carowinds. I can't wait though, my first ride on MF of 2008 is going to be so awesome.

We usually go opening weekend. Weather can be very unpredictable that time of year. Crowds to me are not bad. One item to be aware of is that many of the rides will have some downtime over the weekend due to mechanical issues. The rides have not been in operation since early November except for a couple of weeks of testing and certification. Combine that with new ride crews and takes time to work the bugs out.

I have a reservation for saturday night on opening weekend. Does anyone know if i would be able to leave really really early in the morning and get to the hotel and possibly be able to check in to my room at like 8 am? I live 2.5 hours away and i wanted to be there for the running of the bulls. Has anyone ever done this?

I've been to Opening Day the past two years and it isn't that the crowds are to bad, but the top rides have all gone down at the same time and last year Maverick had a rough start. It was down from like 2:30 in the afternoon till closing, except for a few trains at the end of the night. You can go and get really lucky and get on everything or every time you get in line for something it breaks down. For me, i can't wait any longer then Opening Day to go to CP for my first rides. It's well worth it especially if you love CP. I wouldn't plan your only vacation for the year for that weekend, as you may be disappointed.
