Opening Day 2009

The day started out sunny and mild with a few clouds. Got to the park around 8:50 just as they were raising the flag on the flagpole. Then went into the park for the Platinum Pass ERT. Ran over to Millie and pretty much got on the ride 10 minutes later first ride of the season and it sure was a great one! I then made another run over to Maverick, less than 20 minute wait. Great ride and it seemed a lot quiter today. After riding Maverick it was almost time for the Magnum ceremony. I watched the ribbon cutting and then went to go wait in line. About a 10 minute wait, even better the trims were off! My first ride without trims, it makes a big difference. By now it had started raining and I headed on back to the car for some lunch. Ate some lunch then went back to Magnum to get some video, the storm had started rolling in about this time. After running back to the car I went on the train once to stay out of the rain and then headed on over to Dragster there was pretty much no line so I decided to wait it out and hoped that it would stop raining. It did and testing began. It would take a car two times to make it over the hill empty! So then they started to put people on it, long story short I waited three hours and then gave up as it kept going down. Not sure if it went back up after I left. Some people got three rollbacks but mainly it was just one. So that is pretty much my day. Sorry for any spelling or grammer mistakes, I'll fix them in the morning.

Thoughts:
Dragster was down pretty much all day.
People were very nice while waiting in lines.
Magnum with out trims = :)
Millie did not get repainted as we might have thought.
Most rides were running fine except for the rain.

Thank you for the TR. Sounds like a great day!

Did you happen to see that girl that was freaking out in line for Dragster? The police were having trouble holing her down. That was one of the most odd things I have ever seen at the Point.

How can you tell when a ride is trimless? Just by the feel? I know that I can tell when Gemini is trimless, because that end turn is a lot different without the trims on. :)

CpBoy, You're welcome. I had a great time! :)

Brian, I might of if it was when the line was very long then I did cause I was up near the station, but if it was after the line had moved up to where it splits into two lines I didn't because all I saw were two policemen running into the lines que when I was leaving to go get a drink.

Jesz, I could tell because there are brakes right before entering the pretzel, usually you can hear them or somewhat feel that they are slowing you down. There is also a light in the station that says trims on. I can't seem to find a picture right now though.

You can hear the trims grab right after you go over the third hill. If you listen for it you can't miss it. I can also notice the speed it takes away, when it is on.

Nice trip report Force00, that does sound like a good day. I could remember back in '03 when waiting in line for Dragster and see some trains roll back six times in a row. Only wish I was on those trains. ;)

Thanks Daniel, I was in the train after waiting three hours. I got in and then the car in front rolled back and they had to go down again for matinence. I thought it might not go back to running so I didn't really care to wait much longer even though I could've been on in no time. I was hungry thirsty and sore so it was the end of my wait. Hopefully I'll get a rollback sometime!

Got my first rollback yesterday, actually a triple! After 4 and a half hour wait in the rain I was so happy! I was in the third row and they took us and unloaded the third row after our 3 rollbacks, I got back in line only to be cut in pushed out of the way for the next train. I was so mad because they took us out and those people just ran in front for what would be my seat! So after 45 minutes and 5 brake downs I finally got to finish my ride.

We were on the red train from the second loading platform. I was the one that got taken off when they took away the third row! I have to say that was the best ride of my life! I love the red train and I'm glad they brought it off the transfer!

My son was on Dragster platform at the same time and told me about her. Funny thing is, he saw her later in the day also and she was acting perfectly normal. Strange.
