I've read a lot of posts on here concerning a lot of different things on opening day, but I will point out a couple things.
I arrived 15 'til 10 and thought I was golden for getting my pass. Wrong. The wait was an hour and slightly disorganized. We were queing through the picnic tables in the pavilion. By the time I made it through the line had doubled. At least the bands were playing... Got my picture taken and I look like a tool. =D I watched when he scanned it at the gates. The system seemed to work fine, at least.
I for one, was worried about fitting or not fitting into the seats on the old Milly. They've replaced all seat belt restraints so they're all the same length. I have a 44" waist and had no problem getting buckled. I was extremely pleased with that.
Over on TTD the belts are the same old same old, but on the red train they actually blocked a seat off because the belt was barely big enough to fit anyone. I heard there were quite a few rollbacks that day, I however, didn't see any myself.
Maxair was shut down. Poo.
The Mean Streak is even more headache-enducing than ever.
Those retractable seatbelts are a pain if they get stuck.
The lines weren't really bad. Worst was Milly, an hour and 45 minutes followed closely by the Dragster at 90 minutes. Not at all terrible.
I don't remember the first turn on Magnum to be that sharp, and the bunny hills didn't seem as rough on the knees. That's probably just opinion.
On to Maverick. We got in line around 2 and realized the train hadn't moved for a while. Got back out 15 minutes later. Got back in line somewhere around 5 and stayed there. The only people in the que line were the people on the platform. Otherwise, the line extended past Sweet Tooth. It took barely a half hour to make it to the front of the line because people kept giving up. Within 2 hours we were maybe 15+16th in line. We stayed there, sitting on the ground. About 5 till 9 the announcement was made that they'd be reopening it, and they'd take 100 people in at a time.
Of course, we ALL ran the entire way to the platform. They filled the first two trains, and we headed towards the lift. Then we stopped. We came back a bit and it made a terrible grinding sound. Then they came, hit the green button, and we were off. The ride was flawless through and through - no issues.
At the end, we get stuck on the first set of brakes out in the chilly night air. Great. They finally get one more train launched and we're able to move up into the next position. We sit there for another 20 minutes, then they decide to walk us off.
They let us off, 4 by 4 and had us wait on the platform. Several people still waiting to get on were pissed as the announcement was made that it'd be shut down for the night. Then they told us they were taking us to the Dragster, up the exit. We all walked as a group, maybe 100-120 of us.
We filed up the Dragster and went, no waiting. It was awesome, to say the least. Especially for the 24 of us that got our ride. =D
I plan on heading back up next weekend. I'm hoping Maverick is back up with no issues, and hopefully the lines will be about the same.
