Opening Day 2008

Just post your opening day trip reports here :)

Got to the park at 10:00am and stayed till about 4:30pm.

1. Corkscrew- Total walk on not too bad of a ride.

2. Mavereick- Broke down about 3 times while we were in line waiting. This was about 10:30 to around 1:00 long wait but worth the ride. Then it broke down again when we got to the station it took at least another 20 minutes to get us out of the train. Does anyone know what the problem was?

3. Ferris Wheel- Had to go on the ferris wheel after lunch to get a few pictures. Around 2:00pm

4. Magnum- A 30 minute wait, I have to say that the Magnum crew was the best working ride crew I've seen. The que never stopped moving! Great ride!

And thats it. I will be uploading some pictures I took later and I'll post the link when they are up there.

Thanks for reading!

sounds like a fun day...I can't wait for a photo update.

4 summers of employment in ride operations does stuff to you.

Here's how my day went.

Got on Maverick during early entry. It opened pretty quickly. Went to get on Skyhawk, got in line and it went down mechanical. Walked up to Magnum for a couple walk on rides. I then went to check out the Planet Snoopy Grand Opening and get some pictures of the place. There were a lot of school groups from michigan in the park today, did you all notice that? I took some various pictures uploaded them here:

Had an okay day...got pics with Lauren Holly, Craig Schulz, & Uno. Skyhawk, Maverick, Maxair, Demon Drop, Wildcat, and Raptor (later on) all being down really didn't make it an optimum riding day though. My pics from Opening Day and video of the Opening Ceremony for Planet Snoopy are on my Myspace page.

Today was pretty good, just some off season bugs on the rides. Planet Snoopy really looks great!

The reason Maverick was shutting down is that the trains were not clearing the hill over swan pond and also every once in a while the blocks got screwed up and they have to reset the block and if you are wondering if it ever went up it did, for 2 trains then shut down for the night, ill post my TR later.

My first time since 2002 I've not been at the park on opening day... Kinda weird. Hope everyone had fun!

All right, since I couldn't find an "official" thread regarding Walt's photos, I have two things of note:

1) Nice tie.

2) I don't know if it's the camera angle, but they really might want to check on that "Ice Ceam Float".

The thread is part of the news story in the news forum - http://www.pointbuzz.com/Forums/Thread/22816.aspx

Good catch on the menu. I never noticed it. Definitely not the angle.

You'd think someone would at the very least spell-check prior to opening day... It'd be a lot easier to change if it were just a marquee-style menu, but it looks like it's printed on.

Oh, well. Perhaps the employees will keep a tally on how many people point it out this year. :)

Typo aside, an orange soda float would be awesome this summer.
