I think CP could update Thunder Canyon with just a few simple things
They need to re-paint the canyon so it looks more crisp like the Thunder Mountain at Disney. It would look great. I took a trip to Disney with my Marching Band one year and I got to see the back of Splash Mountain. I also saw Mickey, Chip, and Dale before a parade without their heads on having a conversation. You would be suprised what it looks like back there. They have the nice storage buildings for the floats, and then there's this junky trailer area with offices and crap. It's quite cheap looking for Disney. There are areas of it that have not been re-painted because you can't see them from anywhere in the park. It's amazing how much of a different a little paint makes on a ride.
If they just added a few bumps and dips in the tame parts, it would be much better. *** Edited 12/22/2004 5:27:59 AM UTC by rathofdoom***
I beleive that Thuder Canyon was made by Arrow and not Intamin like the newer rides. That would make an upgrade quite difficult.
RIDE MANUFACTURER:
Intamin AG, Zurich, Switzerland (builders of Demon Drop in 1983, Avalanche Run in 1985)

Unfortunatley I don't think the pharse "out with the old in with the new" applies at Cedar Point if ya know what I mean.
A 20ft drop would freak out my 46 inch nephew as well as some of the other youngsters that ride it now. *** Edited 12/29/2004 1:06:18 PM UTC by delphi94***

It would not be worth the money to add a 20 foot drop on this ride. Its not gonna bring in more riders just because it has a 20 foot drop. Plus, how do you suppose they add a drop to this ride, it is already at ground level, it wouldnt be an easy task.

i just found out today that all of the water in thunder canyon is pumped in from lake erie on a daily basis, i was just wondering if this was a known fact or if im just late finding out
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
You're late. ;)
As you drive around the park on Perimiter Road you can see the small enclosure of rocks in the lake that is used for the water intake. There is also a small light tower on the rocks to indicate to boats that it's a water intake.
