^ I wonder how much the blowing sand would effect the equipment, with it being in that location. Probably not an issue, but i thought i'd throw it out there.
I imagine they use NEMA-rated or IP-rated enclosures appropriately rated to handle the elements.

Now that we are talking about on ride photos, I was always wondering why my skin looks all red and white splotched when I get off the rides and look at my on ride photo.
Also, just about every other person on the ride showed up like this, and I am usually tan in summer, as well as my friends or husband. I swear I come out looking like I am pale and sunburned! Is it just the camera flash? or what else?
great video of the gatekeeper area

Now that the beach is opened up, I hope the wind doesn't prevent these little babies from making the full circuit.
It would be nice that cedar point put the on video cameras on gatekeeper like they did with raptor where people would be able to purchase their own on ride video just like they do with their own on ride photo. In that way people would not be sneaking their cameras on the coaster. With today's technology I would think the on ride video would be possible. I have seen countless of pov videos taken by people while riding on YouTube. There has to be a way to provide an on ride video either with the gopro cameras mounted on the train with the live WiFi feed into the photo gift shop or a camera specially setup that can be worn by a coaster riders.
Those on ride videos cameras on Raptor certainly didn't prevent people from filming the ride. Go look at Youtube and count the Raptor videos where you can see those cameras on the trains.
Those videos were junk, and way too expensive... and they certainly didn't do anything to stop people from pulling out their cameras/phones.

Yes gravity I understand what you have said. Know those onride video dvds are not the greatest & over priced. Yes I seen some of those raptor codes on YouTube. The technology for videos is better today than it was a few years ago. The park install better video equipment on the coaster trains but the park hasn,t gotten there yet. The reason why people do their own onride video better picture quality & cheaper. Maybe if cedar point offer better quality video dvds at a cheaper price than maybe this would help the expectation of what the customers want.
I've got mine. I'm good.

If there was a permanent camera on GK that was that quality, I would buy an on ride video. What I don't like about most on ride videos is that they cut it and show off ride shots.
