On-Ride Video

Hi everyone, I have been visiting this site for years but just today joined the community.

Do you guys think they will integrate on-ride video alongside ride photos with Gatekeeper? I think it makes for a great souvenir! During a recent visit to BGT, I was very impressed with the Ride Photos/Video souvenirs offered to guests. The video cameras on Sheikra and Cheetah Hunt captured exciting moments of the riders experience that the traditional photo doesn't deliver.

Again, glad to be a part of the BEST Cedar Point Community on the web :)

I dont think they will. They tried onride video with Raptor and I don't think it did to well. But who knows, maybe!

I thought Raptor's on ride video was really cool, and I was disappointed when they removed that feature. My guess is that GateKeeper probably won't have one, even thought I'd like it to.

I personally didn't like the onride video. I think the main problem is if people bought it or not and I don't believe it sold very well.

Afterburn at Carowinds also had this feature for about a year before being removed. Other B&M Inverts might have had this feature for a short time as well but failed. I don't expect to see Gatekeeper to have it, but who knows.

I believe it was tried on Maverick, too. If I remember correctly, there were a lot of complaints that the video was mostly B-roll of the ride and very little film of the rider's reaction.

I would have to assume that pictures sell much better than the videos would, and the upkeep of the equipment is probably much cheaper. I know I personally would much rather have the picture. You can display it, put it in a scrap book, pass it around at school/work, etc. What are you going to do with a video?

There was probably more stock video of the ride than there was actual on ride video. My brother bought the video of his sons first ride and was disappointed with it.

I know that a few Knott's rides had the on-ride video, but they too were taken off... Your best bet is media day!

I guess it would make sense to not invest in the on-ride video if it isn't good quality, or even popular. On another note, has anyone heard of where the location(s) of the ride photo cameras will be?
IMO, it would be sweet to see them on or near the keyhole towers, as opposed to somewhere near the first drop, helix etc.

I should think it will in the helix, only because I don't think they will mount those cameras anywhere near the keyholes.

I think they're going to be right before the airtime hill. Or after.

I think it would be cool to have it be at the top of the lift hill, right when the wing-over drop begins.

I could definitely see it right before or right after the airtime hill like rcoaster10 said. I wonder if the flash of the cameras would bother any drivers in the parking lot at night if it were closer to the keyholes.

I don't think it would. It would be brief, not *that* bright amidst all the lights along the park and light poles in the parking lot, and they would be facing towards the lift and beach area, away from the people in the parking lot.

Although it may not be practical, I personally hope it's by the keyholes, but turned somehow so the lift-hill is in the background.

I think it would be an eyesore of it was over by the keyholes. My guess would be somewhere in the helix.

Judging by the locations of the park's other on-ride cameras, I'd venture to guess Gatekeeper's will be at one of the lowest points of the ride. I think Mean Streak's camera is about the highest from the ground that I can think of, but it's still at one of the lowest points on the ride.

^ Maintnence.
I think that it would best go at the bottom of the wing over drop.

^ I wonder how much the blowing sand would effect the equipment, with it being in that location. Probably not an issue, but i thought i'd throw it out there.

That would be a good spot though!
