On-ride Photo

Where do you think the photo will be taken???
Such a big ride, Such a big memory...

I think if there is a photo at all, it should be taken during the launch. Just imagine the peoples faces for that snap-shot!;)

AMEN to that one coasterfreak13 !

Just the track, the wind, and the speed.
I'm thinking it would be moving a bit too fast for the camera to capture anything other than a blur if it was taken during the launch.

They can take is in the First part of the launch, I dont think it will Excellerate that fast. I think they would put it before the brake run after the pullout. Seems like the best place for it.

Wouldn't it be cool if they mounted it vertically (i.e. on the up part, or better yet, during the twist on the way down)!

I think it should be center of the top hat.
I'd like to see multiple cameras. Like one during launch, one going vertical, and one twising down.

Then you could choose which one. Or maybe get a combination one.

great topic. I wonder if there even will be a camera considering the speed.. will be great to find out..

They will have video cameras in each seat in front of you and sell the video to you, of you during the ride for 10 bucks.

Of course I could be wrong

You know, that would be kinda cool! Let's pitch that to the brass at CP. Go on, Jeff! You seem to have the connections. Tell them what the people want. Better hurry! Before they install the trains!
I like the idea of mounting the camera(s) on the vertical 90degree twist right before the tophat after the launch. That way the camera(s) would capture both you, the train and the ground 400 feet below you.

Does any one think it will be hard to snap a picture going 110+ mph's?
I'm sure it can be done. One thing I learned from working in ride photos was that Millennium actually uses two cameras in the same spot to capture everyone since the ride is traveling so fast. I'm sure something similar can be done with this.

If I'm not mistaken they use a video camera (the one on Magnum looks like a security camera) and then just pull off single frames, so they don't actually "snap" pictures. Although any video camera would have to have a very high capture rate to get a clear shot. Not 100% sure on this though, so don't flame too hard if I'm wrong :)

Actually when you think about it. A video camera is pretty much a fast camera that takes a set of pictures (frames per second). That would probably be the best way to do it that way they never have to worry about the timing, although you still have to get the timing right with the flash.

ya know jdoty, i always thought it would be cool to have the camera on the drop for a coaster. It would be perfect cause the people can see themselves freaking out before they plunge 400 ft to the ground.

There is no doubt that there are cameras that can handle 110 mph. I've seen cameras that can take pictures of bullets. I think your right about it being a video though.

I agree that a picture on the 90 degree twist or just before it would be great with the ground almost 400ft in the background.

Just can't live in that negative way... Make way for the positive Day

It will most likely be on the launch because it will be close to where a possible on-ride photo booth would be located. They are always close to the exit of the ride. If it was on the top hat, or the drop, it would be far too long of a distance to string cabel back to the booth. A camera can easily capture the photos...especially if it's close to the beginning of the launch and it hasn't reached full speed yet.

Launch: Tophat: Twistage: Brakes...

...Denial is an ugly thing.

Yea but you also have to think if they are going to put a camera on the launch the glare on a sunny day would suck. So that would be a reason to put the launch in a tunnel.
I have assumed for awhile now that they use a video system to capture on ride photos. I'm not sure why they use that system, the quality is so horrible. A Nikon DX digital camera that you buy at the store for $5,000 can take 20 frames a second and also captures at 3.5 megapixels. I'm sure for all the cash they make off the ride photo they could afford a fast high quality digital system. As for Cp Bounds comment on the wires, you don't need wires. A regular person can buy a very nice wireless system for under 4 grand, and that will transmit medium capacity pictures in seconds. Anyone here have wireless internet or a wireless mouse, think of how quickly that works. For twenty grand CP could build one heck of a ride photo system.
