On Point Post Deleted?

Is it just me, or did there use to be an On Point post from October 7th?

It looks like the entry about Dragster opening was removed.

On the status page it says TTD is closed. But do they just say that on days when the park isn't open.

From what I've read (TTD thread), another breakdown occurred. :(

TAER IT DWON!!!!!!111oneoneone

Seriously.. It's down again. I'm surprised anyone is surprised.

What the wtf is going on with that damn thing.

Well I guess its closed for the season. Very dissapointed I couldn't ride it one more time...

Thrills Around the Corner!

Investing 25 million in JUST the construction of that thing may have been CF's biggest mistake in decades. Has attendance icreased because of it's addition? Hard to say, but park attendance has been down for the last few years.

I love to know how much it's costing them to keep it semi-operational.

It would seem the seasonals (at least the ones I talk to) know more than most people give them credit for. They called the very extended downtime all the way back in early July. I was a bit surprised they actually got it back up and running for a weekend. At least it performed well for the majority of the peak months.

There's better rides in the park to ride. It's been through 3 full seasons and they still can't keep it running. As MrScott said, they're investing tons of money in this ride, and they can't keep it running. It was probably a really bad choice of rides to install.

I can think of at least half a dozen rides I'd rather ride than Dragster, including Power Tower, Magnum, Millennium Force, Wicked Twister and Raptor. I just wouldn't be so down about it if I were you all. You can still manage to have fun at the park.

Ya, everybody go ride the TRAIN!...*

Knock the damn thing over, sell it for scrap metal/turn it into new RR track, and put the funding for repairs back into the railroad and places it actually needs to be! :):):)

lol...;)

From everyone on the CP&LE, RIP Mayor Scott...~

Do you think Cedar Point had insurance against this sort of thing?

It would seem maybe the lawyers and the insurance company would of mentioned it at the first talk of a prototype ride or even a ride that uses such technology, that is not often seen/trusted in this industry.

I bought a new vehicle and I got warranty.. for free. It just seems to make sense.

These things do happen....

I know "things happen", but come on! This thing has been down weeks at a time each year. IF I was a share...errr unit holder, I'd be asking was/is it worth it? Yeah, it draws some into the park, but just how much has it contributed to the bottom line (or hurt it, for that matter).

The way it looks to me, they should paint the whole damn thing red. That's probably how it looks in the books.

The saddest thing about this is the fact that a couple weeks ago at SFGrtAdv KK was running like a charm. A loud horn blows before the train takes off and we heard it blowing pretty much all day! The park was PACKED and the wait time was 2-3 hours and people were definitely waiting.

Not that KK hasn't had it's issues too, I heard it's nickname is Kinda Ka-Ka :)

So whom ever asked if something of that magnitude brings in more guests I would assume yes, it does! I do not think a park would invest that amount of $$ on something that wouldn't "pay for itself" eventually.

Seems as though Intamin used CP as the guinea pig for that POC and SF got the "fixed" model.
Doesn't help CP much now, does it?

I'd rather ride Raptor anyway!

No more Intamin!! :( We want B&M!! :)
I personally think CP should copy SF and build their own Nitro! :)

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?

Easy there... TTD Had a great year, and NO MORE HATING ON INTAMIN!!! I wish I could go back and find everyone who complains about IAG and bar them from EVER riding another IAG ride for the rest of their lives! Grrr... you people are frustrating as....

Okay, I'm done now...

Brandon

Dragster didn't have that bad of a year. It was down for what 3 days or so in the middle of the summer. Other then this recent extended downtime and the three days earlier, Dragster ran every day. The problems are still there, that is proven with what is happening now, but its a lot better then 2003 or 2004 for that matter. Other people have said it, Dragster isn't the best ride in the park. Its down for the rest of the season, so what. I'd rather ride MForce or Raptor then Dragster.

Us enthusiasts understand TTD is/was a prototype and can potentially understand some of its downtime. However, from a non-enthusiasts viewpoint, TTD's "unreliablity" could be viewed as sloppy ride management on Cedar Fair's part (keep in mind, I don't think this way). Some of us on this site make fun of Six Flag's and her "ride down" reputation. Our little TTD must be a PR nightmare, because the ride does have a questionable operating reputation even amongst non-enthusiasts. Non-enthusiasts probably really don't know or care about TTDs prototypeness, they just know she sure is closed a lot. Which I fear makes us (Cedar Point) look just as sloppy as Six Flags. I am the CP "go to" person at work and I can tell you I get nothing but complaints from the GP who, "drove all the way to CP just to ride TTD and it was broke"

My comment always is, "and there was nothing else to ride??"

You are correct Jim, the non-enthusiasts don't want to hear it is the 1st coaster of it's type..yadda yadda.

It is no longer TTD's 1st season so that excuse is long gone. When MF 1st opened I do not recall alot of substantial (like TTD) down times (except when the cable had to be replaced) WT had it's glitches here and there 1st year but both those seem to be running fairly consistantly.
It was like a kick in the face to CP to see KK running so smoothly and consistantly.
As a CP fan you couldn't help but think "wth?"

As for Six Flags....I have been to SFGrtAdv several times and except for the rough crowds I found nothing wrong with the park, the employees and all their rides have ALWAYS been up and running. (Except for "Robin" and he's been down forever)Same for when GL was WOA. Maybe I just went on good days?

These are family boards Jo, what are you thinking? ;)

I agree with everything else you said though, despite the fact that my one trip in 02 was with WT being down. It is now my 2nd favorite ride at the park. Right behind the Big Green Midway Monster.

Goodbye MrScott
